Default Is it worth building a different block?

Well, this summer I will be building up my motor... Since California police are *********, I am feeling uneasy about building my stock bottom end, just in case I get pulled over and sent to state ref, it would be way too much work to have to convert that all back to stock.. I am thinking about buying a B20 Block and building it up as my bottom end. I would benefit from its torque increase as well as if I get pulled over, I can just switch the blocks, remove the cams, etc. Do you guys think it is worth doing this?

It's going to be a pain in the *** pulling apart the motor just to pass inspection, especially if the car is your daily driver. Are performing work yourself?

it's totally worth it.

besides, what happens if u get tagged by a curbside ref.

u'r screwed.

LOL.

besides, once u get up to putting down 190's to ~low 200's, u'll realize that ur pretty much just killing ricers with altezzas and stock v8's (maybe).
then, some punk 16 yr. old kid in an SS will light your block.

LOL. what r u gonna do with ur c5?
just buy a CRVtECHK (lol) engine from Import Builders.
keep everything stock (even exhaust, maybe just a carb eo'd intake).
that way, cops wont pull u over (as opposed to having an open apex'i n1) and if they just see the intake, theyll prolly jus right u down for that.
but yeah, if it's all stock looking, no prob (good power).

get that with a nitrous kit.

if u think about it, in the lifetime of ur R (you will prolly never roadrace, ie buttonwillow/thunder hill---maybe once at most, but u wont wanna damage that front end or expensive *** rims).

ur really going to use it for stoplight draggin...let's face it, streetracing is stupid , but when it comes down to it (and we're lined up next to the stang GT next to us at the light) we do do it----im pretty sure u'll agree with me on that one.

so yeah,
stock CRVTEC engine (stealth mods, cutout-yeah, ecu, injectors) with a nitrous kit.

if u go to the strip, then put on ur ish...

even if u have mods that are carb legal and have the EO's and are legal this and legal that, a cop will still be a dick, will still right u a ticket, and u'll still have to see the ref (worst case scenario).
only thing those numbers do is give u proof that u will pass the carb ref.
it wont help u fight a cop.

yeah,
or buy a 'maro

No I will not be perfoming the work myself, I am young and have little experience. Only reason why I'm debating on buying a different block is because it is easier to switch out the blocks if i get a Carb Ref ticket than it is to replace pistons.

Either way you go, you would have to do the same amount of work if you got busted by the local authorities.

Think about, you got to pull the motor either way to switch bottom ends. You might as well buy another complete motor with tranny, than all you have to do is pull the "illegal to your local authorities" motor and swap it with your stock motor.

I am not sure where you are located but when you do get pulled over, Do the cops write down the block number? If they do, How will you pass the state ref. with a different block?

That was the idea... I build my motor, with the B20 block, and if I get a ticket, I put my stock block back in and go take the test... (after removing the cams, etc)

i'm confused, how would a different block help you? by increasing the time it takes to be ready for the refo r whatever? is cali so **** that those ref people would find pistons, etc?

yeah jus register it with family/relatives/whatever in another state, they can handle the letters or whatever you get from the DMV

Reread my post.
Lets say you have the b20 in your car and you get pulled over. Will the cops write down B20##### on your ticket? When you go to the state ref and he looks he sees B18C5##### instead of the B20##### that was in your car when you got pulled over.

Why don't you leave well enough alone and get that thing on a race track already? I guarantee you that the car has way more potential than you do at this point...upgrade your driving first...

Sorry for the delay...work sucks!

I personally thought my first two autox events were great schooling, but if you can afford to go to a driving school, I don't see any reason to not go.
