Default d16y7

okay so i just spent about 1000 dollars to fix my car....my tranny was fucked, my clutch was done and my bearing was done so the mechanic replaced everythin and i was actually saving up for an engine swap but since i spent it on fixing it cuz i need this car everyday its my everyday car. well what my question is can i upgrade my engine which is a d16y7 97 civic hatch and throw turbo on it?
i tried searching it but nothing came up...i was wondering how much a turbo would cost for this engine. and any good places anyone know of where i would be able to get one

I would.
Swap manifold from a y8
You can peice together a turbo kit for about 1500 dollars.
Get a tune
Run 7-9 pounds daily
try the honda tech market place

7-9lbs daily? What? You don't know what turbo (makes a huge difference), condition of motor, ect. I sway swap a y8 manifold and turbo it. Doesn't matter what psi as long as the block doesnt exceed around 225whp.

PSI means nothing. The block can only handle so much power.

check out http://www.d-series.org, plenty of good information for setting up your turbo d. swapping a y8 head would help but you could still get a good amount of power with your y7 if you tune it correctly

Make sure before you just slap on the turbo kit that you replace everything, i.e. timing belt, fuel filter.....so on and so fourth. do all of your maintainence and make sure your car is running 100% perfect. Then you want to get most likely a T2 turbo. The single cams wouldn't be able to handle a T4 turbo, and I'm not quite sure about the T3. But just make sure to do your research and you get your engine in perfect condition before you start doing bolt ons.

I've got a buddy running with a d16y7 and his setup is as follows...

STR manifold
t3/t04b .48 hot side .63 compressor side
2.5'' charge piping
240cc d16y8 injectors
walbro 255lph fuel pump
dsm blow off valve

made 208fwhp/207fwtq with stock internals at 11 psi!

Case in point....BOOST THE Y7!!!!
