Default S4C 5th gear

Does anybody know if the 5th gear set from a '94-'00 LS tranny will fit in my S4C?I do alot of highway driving and my engine turns 4400 RPM at 70 MPH in 5th gear. I love the close ratio around town & at the track, but gas is killing me and I want to reduce wear & tear on my engine (and being limited to 130 MPH because of my gearing sux!)

the cost involved with installation will not be worth the miniscule gas you save.

here's a hint: stop driving like an *** and maybe you'll save gas. throttle position has a bigger impact on mpg anyway.

when do you ever need to go 130mph+? certainly not on the street and if you're pulling those kind of mph's at a drag strip you're running 10's and faster.

I'm not sayng that I drive everywhere going 130, I just don't want my gearing to limit me to that, #1, and #2, I KNOW that Integras get better gas mileage than I'm getting right now when they have stock LS gears. All I really wanted to know from you people was whether or not the gears would work in my tranny. If I wanted a lecture on my driving, I could've just called my grandmother. Thanks

Yes they should work. But you will need all LS 5th gear parts related. The rest I am still researching since I know someone with a busted ls tranny with good 5th gear.

But you should just buy them from me because I decided 4.78 Final drive is the way for me.

stock ls' get better mileage because every gear and the fd is longer than what you have. one gear isnt going to make much of a difference.

I just don't want my motor to have to wind out as much when I'm going 70-80 on the highway. And if I can save any gas at all, then it's just an added bonus. Diesel engines can last a million miles or more (if taken care of) because they don't rev past 4000 RPM. I've also heard of honda engines lasting a million miles, but I can guarantee you that the guy that had that car (it was an Accord, by the way) didn't get all those highway miles at 4400 revs. Its bad for everything in the engine, and I do alot of highway driving.

LS 1st and 2nd gear are the same ratios as all other B16 tranny's
Only 3rd, 4th and 5 th gear are longer with a 4.26 final drive.
Compared to a 4.4 final drive it is not that much of a difference.

You should just sell me the S4C and buy an LS tranny.

youd have to buy the 5th gear set form acura.
if you know how to do you own tranny work it is not the exspensive, just labor intensive. it has been discussed before

WRONG. s4c gears are not the same as ls 1st and 2nd. they are the same as the usdm type r trannys.

94-01 gsr's are the same as ls's 1st. and 2nd.

Ok first is the same 2nd is different.

I have the Y21 so I knew that 1st and 2nd were the same as the LS S80.

I stand corrected against the S4C tranny which is what OP is asking.

But that doesn't relate to all b16 tranny's since the Y21 is also the Del Sol B16 tranny.

That is the page I was looking for though.
