Why is everyone selling their Toda b's??
because they had their timing belt jump, made less power than the dynos with Toda B's here, kept a stock compression ratio, and don't have enough tuning experience to extract the potential of the cam....in other words, they bought into the hype and got in over their heads....but don't want to admit it publicly...

Well I lost one motor
to a belt on my toda b's, but I'm giving them a second chance, with a little help from power ent
. I just hope it doesnt happen again because this motor cost way more than my r motor.

I think its cause people don't realize that these are not the type of cams that you can just drop in and hope for power. When i had my toda B's first put in, i hated it because my car ran like crap. I tuned it two weeks later and no regrets
Mid-Range kicks ***
Mid-Range kicks ***

Toda B + intake + cheap JDM header + gears + V-AFC = madd phat midrange, not so much on the peak power side. Throw in an exhaust and a tuner who knows his nads from an 02 sensor and you're looking at a solid 185 whp.
Add a valvetrain, some compression, more fuel, standalone maybe, and a tuner who knows his chit = 200 whp or better.
Toda B's are not plug-and-play. Anyone who tells you otherwise should be kicked in the jimmy.
Pat, who's budget B setup made 180-ish peak with a 20+ delta at midrange

Ok..I am going to add my 1 penny to this.
I talk to alot of you on the phone, and we talk about all kind of things to make your motor better.
And one thing that comes up is..
timing belts breaking and blowing up motors with Toda B's only.
However...I do not personally believe Toda B's have anything to do with timing belts breaking.
I personally, would say Buy toda B's if your the type of guy who wants to be pretty absolutely sure, the cams are not going to break.
Pretty damn high quality cams.

I am not trying to doubt you, just want to know what you think the reason is, so we can share and not make the same mistake in the future.
I have seen several Toda B dynos, and it seems for the mods these people are doing they would have been much better off just getting a set of Toda A's. When I had my R that was the route I took and was quite happy with the results.
Why did the chicken cross the road? Sounds familiar?
We may never know the answer to the question because there are so many possibilities.

Very thrue. Plus you have to accept the fact that more preventive maintenance is required with those type of camshafts. You have to check the belt more often, adjust valve lash more often... basically they are not "drop them in and forget about them for 50000 miles".

Mine idle just find and they are not even tuned yet.

I know its best to upgrade the valve springs for the spec B's but has anyone had problems running stock type R springs with these cams? Thanks for the input
