Question about TL's 07
difference between type-s and regular tl.. ? how much would it cost to make the reg TL like the type-s TL? .. does the type-s have more valves then reg TL? 3.5 liters big difference from 3.2?

Differences are the engine, brakes, and exterior styling(rims, lights, etc.), and interior styling(seats, gauges,Navi w/ back-up camera, etc.)
It would cost more to make a TL non-S to a TL-S then it would to just pay the extra in the beginning and just buy a TL-S.
No extra vavles, just more displacement(bigger bore).
In this case, 3.5 compared to the 3.2 with the gearings is a big difference, it's a lot faster. The hp numbers are about a 30 hp difference between the two.

Ive driven both....type S is like 3500 more than the regular one and in my opinion well worth is if you love the fast honda cars like ITRs and CTRs but want a more luxorious car....also they come 6 spd, the base is only auto......
according to the boys on Acura-TL.com the non type S appears to be faster....I have not run against one yet but with my CL I have managed to take down a 303hp impala V8 car....headers intake and slightly larger intake cover for the win

Sorry, got it mixed up with the new 3.7 for the MDX that has the bigger bore.

That's a joke. From personal experience being that I work at a Acura dealership and have driven the 07 TL, TL-S(auto), and TL-S(manual), the Type-S is a lot quicker than the base, and of course the 6 spd even faster.

hey mang don't shoot the messenger
I have not driven a 07 CL type S but I doubt it is going to be much if any faster than my current setup......I did drive a 06 TL and that thing was pretty slick in the power department.... I would think that the larger 3.5L would be even more so.......

My stock '04 TL 6MT walked my friend's '03 TL-S with I/H/E (I had the same setup on an '02 Type S, minus the exhaust). I always trapped a 3 MPH or so faster in the 1/4 with my '04 versus my '02 TL-S as welll. The extra power and torque of the 3.5L are only going to make the '07 -S that much faster.
extra power and TQ? 286HP is not much different than 300hp out of a 3.2L...his stuff must not be running right if you walked him.....lol maybe his trans was slipping......
I think we've been through this before. I'm not bench racing, I'm stating facts. Numerous 1/4 mile passes -- too many to count. Tons of races. Recall that I owned both cars so I'm not plugging horsepower into some arbitrary formula and coming up with a result.
We can go back and forth about driving, but I owned both cars and took both to the track and the numbers spoke for themselves. The races against my friend's '03 were anecdotal since I obviously could not have raced myself in two different cars at the same time on the track.
At any rate, 286hp on the new SAE standard is a lot more than 260 on the old one so it's more power than the numbers tell you, despite how fixated you seem to be on just that. Don't forget the manual transmission factor, either.
I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other as you seem to have made your mind up, but keep in mind that I'm stating fact, not arguing theories.

what I am telling you is that a new TL type S it isnt gonna be faster than a older CL TL type S with some good mods. From my experience with Intake mods and Headers I can easily win against a 3rd gen TL..I've done it....you are acting like oh my god it can't be.......an older CL TL S with headers is AT LEAST 290HP old standard and around 276 new standard.
Maybe in the summer when I have a day off I will post a dyno using the new standard

I am not acting like it can't be done. In fact, if you look back at your previous post you suggested that my friend's transmission must have been slipping when we raced -- sounds to me like you're the one who thinks it's not possible.
All I am saying (and all that I have ever said) is that I owned an '02 TL-S with I/H and my stock '04 TL 6MT was faster than it at the track. Every time. Consistently. This is the same driver (me) at the same track (Moroso).
My friend had an '03 TL-S with I/H/E and I walked him when we raced. Every time. Consistently.
Also, exactly how do you plan to post a dyno of anything using the new SAE standard? It's not as if the day the standard was adopted every dyno magically started spewing out new numbers -- it's all in the testing procedures.

This thread seems to be getting off track a bit. More to the point, an interested buyer would need to compare the two and decide if the extra/different features of the Type S make it worth $5K more. I like extra performance as much as the next guy, but there's no way that much of a premium is worth it to me (they don't even include more tire), but that's my opinion. The bigger motor is nice, but hey it's FWD so there's only so much you can do. Different wheels (same size though) and some interior changes would be worth more if the base TL was wanting in those areas, but again I don't really see the extra pop for the money (and you can keep the Nav; I don't leave the house without knowing where I'm going and a $5 map from Wal-Mart still works for me).
