Default Help with misfire around 5500 rpm.

I have a really annoying problem with my crx B16A1 turbo.

Around 5500rpm it tends to pop and bang and hold back. I have tried loads of things like:

Gapping the plugs down.
Checked mech timing.
Checked fuelling. All looks good. around 12:0 AFR.
Ign is retarted by 1 degree per lb/boost.

It only seems to do this when i put my foot to the floor. On half throttle it does not do it.

My spec is:

B16A1 engine standard
6.5 psi of boost
1 degree retard per lb/boost
T4 turbo
external wastegate.
Greddy profec B boost controller.
RC 550cc injectors.

I cannot seem to shift this fault.

I am tuning with crome free. and using freelog to datalog.

Any help really appreciated.

There is a few things to do.

1. new plugs (and a regap)
2. New dissy wires
3 New ignitor
4.new coil
5.a new dissy that will eliminate the option 3 and 4
6.Ignition timing are set wrong(bad tune)
7. wrong A/F mix

Most likely a new set of NGK plugs gapped correct will do fine.
Please fill in if anyone have more Ideas

The dizzy is only 3 months old and the problem only started when i put a new engine in the crx. I put the old dizzy on the new engine.

6.Ignition timing are set wrong(bad tune) I have tried a few different tunes but still get the problem.

7. wrong A/F mix The A/F looks quite good but wondering if its because of the change over point when you switch from low cam to high cam on the vtec.

I never has these problems on my last engine.

If it is the dizzy why would you get the fault only at a certain rpm??

sounds lean bro, you need a proper tune. 5500 is probably where you start making boost, this happened to me when i was untuned, just wanted to rip it once on a basemap, got it up to 5500 and it ran like hell.. got it tuned and its been running awesome eversince.

if he said a/f are in the 12's then its most likely not a fuel issue. even if he was running lean ~ 13-14:1 a/f the car wouldnt break up. its most likely an ignition problem. swap out a new distr. to see if it helps. also check ur plug wires

The tune is quite good. I have spent a while working on it and it is in the 11.5 to 12 on boost.

The distributor is only 3 months old. It was brand new with cap and rotor.

shut off the boost controller and see if it does it, I tuned a car 6 months ago acme back complaining his car was bucking , backfire. Take for a ride with computer hooked up every thing was good, turned off the boost controller no problems.

Try changing out your spark plug wires. They might be arcing at high rpm.
