Default Expo Update

I just got off the phone with Phil.

The event is very much on so please plan on coming and having a great time.

There will be an additional charge of $55, for each driver, to cover the cost of insurance and an on site EMT.

If possible please plan on attending a meeting on Sunday night at the Guest House Inn. There are a few things that need to be cleared up before we all attend the event on Monday.

Thanks

Clayton (and Wes who is not available in the virtual world today)

Also don't forget your steel-toed boots.

For $355, I think everyone gets to kick Phil at least once.

Can we get our money back and never run a CGI event ever again?

A very nice Mid-Ohio event could be set up for $12,000. Probably even this summer.

Just offering an alternative to the raping we're taking.

Can we really not have a banquet so the money can go towards the extra cost?
$25/person isn't cheap to begin with.

Clayton - thanks for posting these couple threads to get the word out & as always "Wes, call me if you need me".

BudMan - whose wife will kick his *** if he didn't have EMT & insurance....(she'd wait until I kicked phil's *** tho )

well from the information presented it seems that phil said "NO" to using that money for anything other than the banquet. so draw your own conclusion as to why that might be.

is there going to be any benifits of over paying ?

Well it seems this EXPO is already screwed, but for future reference:

The whole point of the ITR EXPO should be the gathering of owners with similar interests and similar cars. Whoever takes it upon themselves to run the organizing of the event does deserve some compensation for their efforts, but $6000 is just ludicrous.

WHAT?

Shouldn’t this 'last second charge' have been worked out beforehand? I for one will be scraping to make it to the expo... much less drop an EXTRA $55 on top of the $300 that I already sent.

There needs to be a resolution to this issue ASAP!

I will be at the hotel for the 'meeting'... if I can get out of/back into the camping are at the track.

Good job wes for taking care of things.

and **** Phil is all I have to say. I can't make this years event cause i had knee surgery and used all my time off to recover.

I do have 2 Track events on my Resume as Cheif Organizer and I must say this isn't how they went down. I handled everything CGI has done plus took care of insurance, instructors, worked with the track owner had EMT's scheduled, got numbers for the cars and made sure things ran on schedule such as the meetings and tech.

To bring things into perspective we have 30 students and paid $175 each for 2 full days and over 3 hours of seat time with exceptional SCCA champion and world challenge instructors. THat included Insurance. Insurance through the track cost ne $500 a day. This sin't to say that insurance at Gingerman ins't more exspensive but I hate to think it is twice as much. EMT's cost me $450 a day. Phil has taken everyone for a ride on this one.

I would like to say that if next years EXPO is to be a suscess we need to be a little more Shrewed with our finances. We will have more attendance at a lower price. THis one was $155 more than last years and at a track 1/2 the size.

Wes has a done a phenominal job pulling this off logistically given the circumstances and his experience. I think this wa s ahuge learning year for us all. Wes should remian one of the organizers for next year as I am sure he knows the RIGHT questions to ask now. If I am needed you have my services. Instructors in the southeast I will have no trouble getting.

That will not happen....

And if it does... I will take a piece of the track home with me.

time frame:
-pissed that I had to pay $300 (but got a dinner)
-pissed even more when I found out that there was no dinner
-pissed beyond compare when I found out that there was a $55 fee added to the $300 entry... and still won't get a dinner
