Default Gauge placement....

So it's almost that time for some boost and I just got my gauges in the other day. Now the delema is, where to place them. :thinker:

I've got a couple ideas, and open to others. I prefer not to drill into my dash at the current moment, so that option is out. And I rather not get a gauge pod for the A pillar.

So here it is.

Option 1.

Option 2.

Option 3.

Option 4.

I think Option 1 is the best looking. Just couldn't imagine cutting a hole in the dash. Good luck dude, can't wait to see the finished product.

I voted for Option 1, but 3 would work as well.

as much as i hate to say it..... i think they would look better pillar mounted or w/ the suction cups on the window.....

but, if you are set on your 4 options.....

i like # 2 the best....the feet of the brackets will lay the flattest (flushest) against the dash.....

3 or pillar panel ... my reason is, no wires visible in your dashboard..

go to science of speed for your pillar gauge panel

smurf i stole your roll bar looks real nice on my car lol.

i have a different idea. have them mounted under the passenger side dash angled towards you right next to the console. it looks amazing. i'll try and dig up a pic of it.

purpose of gauges is to monitor boost, temp, pressure etc... and it has to be eye level so you can spot right away if there is malfunction... and mounting it on the passenger side is bit outrageous.. lol

meh the one i saw was easy to read. you're gonna have to glance at it anyways because you wont be able to read it from your peripheral vision. so yes, the longer the glance away you have to look, the harder. but its all relatively an equal glance distance away. maybe because i have 20/10 vision too.

In my opinion, having the gauge there to know what's going on is fine. For this I would suggest a piller as shown just a few posts up.

BUT, using that gauge to spot a malfunction should be a No-No. Warning LEDs are much more efficient at grabbing your attention and are small enough to put multiple right in front of you. Then, when one of those lights up you can look at your gauge.

Just my $0.02 really.

^^ so you know, papa5murf gauges has built in LED malfunction indicator..

same as my old set-up posted above..

no more crazy wiring with LED lights and mounting your gauge in a remote location!!! rofl

Hummm, I'm digging this idea. I could do option 3 with the suction cups and push them a little further back...

Humm, now to find these "so-called" suction cups. Didn't blitz have them for their gauges?

All the options plus a few extra here and there. GT3071 will probably be the turbo I go with. I have to check with Ya, cause I don't really want to notch the subframe if I don't have to.

But on the other hand, there's a local guy selling a brand new kit, but he went with the GT35R, so might have to talk to Ya about that also to see if I could swap it for something else.

I only want 400rwhp, so I rather go with a smaller turbo that can achieve that power and reduce my lag.

I know what you mean.

I still want to get some ITB's and play with the n/a.

I figure mainly I should buy a boosted car if I want turbo and play with that. Im working on getting a career, so who knows what lies ahead.

Wow, option 1 is smoking the competition.

I'm still looking for those suction cups from (blitz), or at least that's who I thought made them. Anyone know where I can find them? I've been searching high and low for it.

I rather keep them together, so I can just look up in the direction of the gauges and read both in one glance. Thanks for the idea though.
