Default Greddy kit on GSR, questions.

How is the clearance between the ex. manifold and the AC/Radiator fans?

I have a thicker Koyo aluminum radiator which leaves me with less room to work with, and would like to know if I can keep the OEM fans (w/ some trimming) or resort to a slim fan.

What other fitment issues are there with this kit?

TIA

You might have to trim the **** out of the stock fan for it to work, i had to trim mine a little and i was using a stock radiator. the block webbing will most likely have to be trimmed also to fit the turbo, nothing major though...

You mean (puller fans). Its better to use a puller fan than a pusher fan.

Id buy a half size radiator and one 12inch puller slim fan. Than you would be set.

no n00b- i mean PUSHER fans- that would create more space-
how is it any different puller or pusher- both are electric and as long as the fan rotates in the same direction as air flow in.

a pusher onthe front of the rad will give more E-bay space.

First of all just because my icon says noob, doesnt mean im a noob to cars lol. Go to becool.com. It teaches you that puller fans work much better cooling the motor than a pusher fan does.

Im not stating my opinon on the fans its from information. There is a big difference from a pusher fan than a puller fan.

i didnt say you were new to cars- calm down dude - i used your name so you would know i was talking to you -- you chose the n00b sign

As well can you not agree that a pusher fan will increase space in the engine bay?

This will work even if I still have A/C? The A/C condenser is right in front of the radiator.

Anyways, thanks for the help. It looks like I'll have to sacrifice/modify more than I wanted to in order to utilize the "bolt-on" Greddy turbo kit.

I'm reluctant to decrease my cooling capacity by going to a half sized aftermarket radiator like most boosted DC I've seen. And, I don't feel like poking through the fins to mount/install slim electric aftermarket fans either (kind of cheesy IMO).

I'll just do tranny upgrades for now (LSD, clutch, flywheel). Just in case I change my mind in the future...my drivetrain will already be set for the extra power.

word to big bird

You wont decrease your cooling campacity. Any aftermarket radiator is always going to be better an oem one. Unless the aftermarket radiator has a hole in the bottom.

I agree with you.

However, what I am trying to say is that a half sized aftermarket radiator will decrease my cooling capacity from what I have now. Which is a full size Koyo aluminum upgrade.

Given that a boosted motor is going to generate more heat, I would much prefer to keep my current full size setup to be on the safe side. But that doesn't seem possible at this point.
