Default Went to the track and now i want BOOST!

it sucked. it was really slow last night so i got to run a few times. it was humid and muggy outside, so that might have had something to do with it. the wind was definitely kicking up a storm, but that shouldnt have affected it too much. the lowest i got was a 14.90 with injen CAI, skunk2 SS, and evo2 exhaust on the stock tires on stock height. i have ordered my eibachs and will be getting new tires soon. but it still sucks that i could only get a 14.9. i dont have the slip with me, but i know my 60' was around 2.1 or somewhere in that area. my mph was at most 93.2. even with my "freshly rebuilt" 2nd gear i still grind like hell trying to power shift, so i stopped that after the first try. had to launch at around 3200 so i wouldnt hop so hard. for one launch it was hopping so hard i thought it was going to pop a tire or crack a spring or something it was loud and crappy.

so after running a 14.9, i came home and started looking at my options. i am kinda diggin the redshiftmotorsports.com stage 2 set up because of the fact that its around $4k INSTALLED. im pretty sure i read it correctly when it says that the price did include the install and tune in house in dallas,PA. so i could take a week off from work and go up there and have it thrown in. the stage 3 set up (350whp at 10psi) is only like $300 more!!! so for 60hp, its $300 bucks! i would definitely pay 5 bucks for each pony added. i dont have that kinda money right now, and this is where my dilema comes in...

i have a 97 ek with a newer d16y7 in it with turbo. i like it because its small, light, and cheap to fix. not to mention that there is no warranty, but its not necessary because i got the car for $500 and since have replaced the motor/tranny/clutch/flywheel/suspension/exhaust/turbo kit/and many other accessories for under $2k. so i can sell that pretty easily for $3500 and save the rest up over the next few weeks and go get the supercharger. but i cant decide if i want to boost the si or not because i dont want to void my warranty and pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a new motor or tranny or clutch or anything. so im torn. and now i must ponder what to do. either way, the si is getting something to make it go faster whether it be the reflash or just some bfdr or something. i dunno. tired and kinda intoxicated and felt like posting. sorry about the long rant

I would say get a race header and the hondata reflash you can pull 13's with that setup with practice.

But then your like damn thats 1k i could have out toward a TC or SC thats the route i would go for now but a boosting just seems like so much fun but alot of risk involved Good Luck with your choice.

practice. you'll get that **** lower in no time. dont worry about wheel hopping noise...it happens to everyone. just go to the track more often..feel the car...feel the track. you'll get it lower.

like he said. feel the track. practice. practice. practice. ull get it in the mid 14s. if i were you, i would keep the hatch and do ridiculous stuff to it. keep the si for daily things. nothing too crazy. i/h/e and maybe hondata if u really want to. just my .02
thats what im planning on doing atleast. looking for a hatch to boost. keepin the Si for daily things. mild things. good luck

I doubt he would pull 13s with that setup if he's pulling a 14.9 now. Practice will only get you so far, because if he can't power shift into 2nd gear I doubt he'll be running low 1/4 mile times.

My suggestion to you would be to make sure you get 2nd gear 100% fixed before voiding your warranty. You don't want problems creeping up that have nothing to do with going F/I and getting that blamed for it.

well my hatch is back down and out until i can get it tuned up. i am running a d16y7 with stock ecu, BIG turbo, greddy bov, tial wastegate, fmic, 3"dp, edelbrock performerX IM, and i just started upgrading fuel components. i put in some 310s because my 500s would have killed the car. well i got a greddy blue box from my buddy off his gsr and it just isnt working for me. it flooded and burnt all 4 plugs within about 30 seconds. so i have new plugs and i am in the process of putting on my fpr and wideband and getting an ecu chipped for crome or hondata and going from there.

in short, i am going to make the hatch much quicker and try to get to the 12's after my build. as for the SI, i'll stick with simple (non warranty voiding) mods and upgrade the tires and suspension and brakes and what not and make it a bit quicker. i'll stay away from boosting the SI until more options become available and i definitely want to see some dynos and videos of the redshiftmotorsports supercharger before going any further with that pipedream.

and i will definitely be practicing more, but i can only do it so often because spending $20 to run my car at the track, as well as gas getting out to the track (45 minutes away), spending $7 for my girl to get in, $15 on beer for me and her, $10 on food so i can drive on a full stomach (keeps the beer from making things wibbly wabbly ) so add all that up and it costs a good bit to go run at the track. but when i have money (or hopefully when i can go alone) ill be out there practicing.
