Stabilus Hatch Strut
Anybody have any experience with these on an ITR or GS-R?
I found out from Acura today that the ITR and GS-R use the same hatch strut, but their prices range from $70-$90+ EACH (different dealers had different prices).
The Stablilus is cheap at about $27 each, but the description says it will fit ALL model Tegs. And I know the sub-GS-R models have a different strut.
Just wondering if anyone knows about this make and whether or not it's any good on the heavier Teg hatches.
Thanks.

I received and installed the Stabilus hatch struts today. They appear to work. The hatch lifts with little effort, and after about 3/4 of the way up, it will continue unaided. Albeit slowly. They mount up very easily, and look similar to OEM - with one big exception: they're upside down. As you can see in the photo, the body is at the top and the piston is on the bottom.

No, they went on very easily. The only thing I did was reuse the snap ring, as the replacement snap ring didn't attach as securely.
Oh, I guess there was one mod - I sanded off the end of one of the nylon bushings that slides inside the tab on the middle photo. The end of it covered the groove where the snap ring goes, so I made it shorter with sand paper. Not a big deal. They were both mounted in about 30 minutes.
Make sure you have something securely propping up the hatch while you work. One strut isn't enough to hold it up - even if it's good. And you don't want it falling on your head!

A lacrosse stick is perfect for Boxy's tailgate. Might work for an Integra as well.
