What setup could you build with around 3K Steve? Assuming starting with a stock B18C5.

how in the hell did that shop not tell you that revving past 8 grand would not require new vavle springs?

dude, if they really didn't tell you, i don't know why either (because it would be more money to them to sell you some vavle springs).

those guys are total idiots, if that's what really happened..

sorry about your loss, i'd complain and complain and complain everyday for the next month until they fixed something. how could they not know that revving past the stock redline wouldn't require new vavle springs? i see you have everything else except the vavle springs!

you know what else is weird though? stage 1 cams aren't supposed to require new vavle train, so perhaps they didn't install something correctly? could an improperly tightened screw or nut or something could have come to play? it could have also been their crummy craftsmanship.

Jotech blew my motor as well with horrible work habits. Then Kenny Tran gave me 40% off a new ITR motor. Which I just built up again (Not his shop), and breaking it in again. Would never let them touch my **** again.

I'd never trust a place that puts "Jotech" stamps over engine IDs.

Yep.

Jotech is a joke. Back around 1997, they were already making a name for themselves as a shady shop.

Yeah I used to do business with Jotech back in the day when they were the only source for import parts in DFW. They once installed some springs on my car and forgot to tighten the right front shock.

Default Jteasy

hey JTEASY
I live in Richardson texas and i have been jotech several times and they have been fairly good to me.. but I didnt have them build my motor as I do these things myself. $8000 is ummm.. pretty high up there.., and Im not gonna talk bad about Jotech as they have not done n e bad to me.
Just give me a call at 214 566 6083, and I can prob help you build a motor a SHITLOAD cheaper than $8000 and make quite a bit more power also. I can get an LS motor resleeved by golden eagle for 650, which is a great place to start on a new motor, and prob some your things can be salvaged. Check out my dyno on the bottom, which I had it tuned at fastech, and my motor definately did not cost me $8000 at all, prob at most, $4000 with the $1000 jun cams.

$8200 is a lot, but I see ITR block in there, rebuiliding the bottom end, cams, ecu and headers in there plus tuning, labor.

I built my motor for less, but I can see how it can get up there real quick, especially if you have to pay someone to do the work. The going mechanic rate around my are is about $80.00 bucks an hour.

Jotech blew my motor back in November on the dyno. It blew after turning the boost up just a little on a stock b18c1 motor and it jumped from 239whp to 343whp and then blew. My motor blowing wouldn't have been a huge issue I know it can happen on the dyno but they erased the last dyno pull and tried to send me on my way 500 miles back home.

Hey ming, were you gonna help Stan with building his block before he moobed to the valley?

I remember talking to him and he kinda made mention of having the use of someone's facilities to help him rebuild.

Just curious that's all.

My friends shop is building a Turbo B18C1 for this guys 1997 Hatch, when he bought the car (From Jotech) they had already swapped the B18C1 in it, when my Friends shop ripped it out (along with the Dashboard so they could build a cage) the wiring was a complete and utter mess, he didnt stop complaining about Jotech for a month

Default Jotech

Jotech isnt the only shady shop. There are some bad bodyshops. I bet alot in the DFW area could name some particular ones. Yeah these days if you want it done right do it yourself.

Default that sucks

that sucks about your motor man. I think something wasnt assembled correctly if u ask me. what machine shop does there work?

as for them giving u money, I dont think it will happen, im sure u signed something along the way that made u responsible.

as for jotech being a bad shop, I dunno, Kenny is a very smart guy, he knows what hes doing.. He has a 1-2 really good people under him, some people say that those people are the ones really responsible for his successful race car. Ive never bought anything from them, and probably never will. I think they are overpriced and too busy, they dont have the time-to take their time, working on your car cause they got a schedule to keep.. but what I am most surprised about, is that they built u an all motor car. I thought that was against the rules their, turbos only.
