Is placing a turbo w/ an automatic tranny a waist of time? How about supercharger?
I am presently the owner of a 2000 Civic EX. And w/ the exception of a couple engine modifications (eg. AEM cold air-intake, DK headers) the rest of the 1.6 liter 1590 cc 4 banger is stock. Yeah, I know... not much bang. Not to mention that it's also an automatic transmission. However, after having driven to and from Las Vegas (236 mi. one way) I can't deny the potential that this little feller has shown me; and 'cause of that am now considering taking it to the next level. How far I'm not quite sure. Still, one of my concerns is whether I should convert him over to stick, or if dropping a turbo on an automatic transmission is worth doing. Or even a supercharger for that matter. Any and all info. on this matter, or any matter concerning there of, is very much and greatly appreciated.

what do think? is it worth it? how far do you want to take the performance of your car?
i once knew someone back in the day that had a 4dr. ex auto turbo. it was nice, fast, and he really didn't have to worry about shifting. if this is your thing then shoot for it, personally i hate auto's, but that's my opinion.

not sure if that's true or not, but it really isn't a bad idea.

auto's hold boost better but imports always perform better being manuals as are auto trans suck.. and domestic's manuals suck as there auto's kick ***.. so i cant tell u your trans will give out but honda's manual trans are stronger

it should work...
ive seen automatic civic with turbo and they said its alright...
then again...it depends on how big your turbo is...
you might not get the full potential of the turbo..
before it spools up...your tranny probably gonna shift to the next gear.. and your RPM will drop...
id say use a small turbo...if your tryin to get fast on a quarter mile...
but...in the long run....if youre running 80 miles an hr...you should be good...i dont know if its gonna work on the take off as good as the manual tranny...
or, you can help it out by spraying nitrous...
correct me if im wrong........

It honestly depends on the strength and type of automatic transmission.
Most Honda transmissions have massive shifting lag, and don't run high up enough in the RPM's to hold boost for very long, and then you fall out of it instantly when you shift (unless you've got the tinniest turbo ever).

honda auto's suck when you try to put too much power through them.

It really depends on how much power your looking for. If your looking for anything under 250hp then youll be fine. But if your looking for more then 250hp then your going to need to look into a stronger torque converter as those will crap out. Look into level10 torque converters.
i wonder who started the automatics are the suxors arguemnt.....................................w/e gearing is better in a manual
i know first hand when i first got my car y friend would run circles in his lx sedan ek against my ej1 coupe i had more power!

B18C is both the "jdm gsr" (SIR-G) and jdm Type-R
plus it isn't a DOHC he's talking about... it's an EX, it's SOHC.

Toyota Supras, Nissan 300ZX's, things like that, yes, it can be beneficial.
A Honda Civic EX, no.

actually you can get auto 's to shift redline pretty easily, just shift choke
you can do it in d4 just slam the gas and it will just keep going up until it just barely hits redline then shifts

To do a turbo kit right and 0% non half *** you will spend over $4000.
