What kind of b18 did you ask for? Why did they tell you it's better? Where is this getting done?

You do know a 2000 teg has a b18b stock in it correct?

Also try the teg forums this is the EF.

You have to be kidding me, that is horrid advice, just because it CAN be done doesn't mean it's anywhere near easy cheap or cost efective.

Plus nothing in this post relates to the OPs question, don't just randomly give out bad info to up your post count ok?

I'd love to see a low cost 10 second Honda. Not even turbo or n2o is there.

Infact name me most any car for a sane price that goes 10.

I'm not saying your post was untrue but to give hope like that is kind of foolish, as even with a boat load of money alot of people can't /won't hit tens.

My ls1 could be doing 6s, saying it's not tricky to do is far from true.

See what I'm saying?

I have those books

I also know those arn't simple setups, nor cheap.

Sure they can go that but the way you stated it was as if you can get into the 10s with ease and you cant.

I just wanted to clear it up for the OP thats all

maybe 10 seconds in the 1/8th mile!!!!

plus from the OP's post it sounds like the car is getting a replacement engine installed, since that car already comes stock with B18B
so the shop said to go with the B20 instead, probably because they had one lying around and could sell it to her at a higher price ("2 liters girl, it costs more")
so i doubt she is looking to spend $6000 on a sleeved and built b20/vtec with un-daily driveable cams and ITB's with a 9k rpm redline, which still would not get in the 10's in a fully loaded 2000 integra

You are right but you don't know how much someone knows on a site.

You could be quoting **** you've read or a Honda race motor builder by trade, we just don't know, so you want to try to be as simple as possible and build on info if needed

I recommend a B20 over a B18b because its typically more cost effective. You can pick up a used JDM B20 for about $650. It's essentially the same motor as the B18b except its bored about 3mm larger. The cylinder walls are a little different but for something that is not a race car, it's a good choice. So for an essentially identical engine, it's cheaper and has a little more power. Why not go with a B20?

and a b20z would be more ideal then the b20b due to the higher compression and increased HP.
the b20z's are a bit harder to find though.

soshin trade corp in south gate, california is doing the job for me, I was just pissed cause they said they had a b18b, then after they supposedly removed the old engine they say they dont have it in stock. So I had to have the b20b , was not sure though if it was a good choice, the b20b is 575.00 plus labor .

I agree, you will get nailed for using a "light truck" motor in a pass car.

Demand the b18b.

Why should you have to go to a place grease a plam and or risk impound because of them? If you chose to mod and do it yourself thats your thing but, a shop doing it because they are short, is not ok at all.

But at least get a receipt from them. this way if you are ever pulled over you can at least claim you have no knowledge about it being a non-conforming motor, that you paid for a "replacement" motor
