master cylinder problem

Default master cylinder problem

my master cylinder went bad so i got a new one for my car it is a 98'honda ex w/ABS the one that i took off the car had a rod that comes out of it but the new one had no rod :it works but now i have to press the brake pedal way down to engage the brakes :my civic is also the Canada model (i know it blows) did i get the wrong part (damn e-bay) i mean it fits, it works, but not as responsive until way down on the pedal all the ones in my year have no rod what to do???

I would say bleed your brakes, if thats not it then i geuss find a master cylinder with a ?rod?

bleed the hell out of brakes and gravity bled the master cylinder the rod is a medal cylinder(extension) of some sort....thanks for your reply

If you blead it really well I would say get another master cylinder. If the "rod" I'm thinking about is the same rod your talking about than you need to have those match up. If not, it would engage at different times, like yours is.
