Default 2000, worth the TSBs?

There is an s2000 for sale, good price 34k mi. The front bumper and passenger fender have been replaced, but the hood is original. TEIN type flex coilovers

Is it worth the TSBs getting this car? I heard the tranny will go very quickly in that car for that year.

lol the tranny gone in a year? don't listen to whoever told you that. obviously we wouldn't be owning the car if we didn't think it was worth it.

I read and heard from various people that certain S's in the 2000 year have a problem with the syncro in second gear and is very very prone to falling apart. I don't plan on beating on this car, I doubt I can afford the payments and replacing stuff I break.

So with that said..... is it true the 2000 tranny is prone to failure prematurely? Is it worth buying a low mileage 2000 s2000 with that being said?

if you can barely afford payments, sorry but this car should not be an option. you have to set aside money for possible repairs and insurance as well. there are few that have problems, but the gear doesn't fall apart. it just sometimes grinds when slamming it into second and high rpm.

i agree. DOnt buy a car, taht ur barely gonna get buy making payments, **** happens in this world. try to get soemthing taht u arent gonna be so streched out for finacialy, thats my 2 cent. but do as u please. Trannys dont fall apart, and like u said if u arent gonna be raping it at the track, then u dont got anything to worry about.

I'm 18, full time student, I also work full time, live at home and the only bill I have is my phone which is less than $80 a month.

I also have outstanding credit, a great HIGH paying job, and a great bank.

My dad is co-signing and he almost has perfect credit.

My payments will be around $250/month for 36months with an $8000 loan (the loan is getting smaller every day I wait).

I'm working on transferring to one of the best colleges in the country and I'm going to scale back my hours, but I should have the car paid off by the end of the summer.

I'm buying it to get away from modified cars that break, so I'm not going to be slamming it into second at 9000rpms.

Will the car last with responsible driving? Or will the TSBs prove themselves more of a hassle than the car is worth?

The person who told me about the trouble with a 2000 year has a friend who just got sick of his car breaking and bought a G35, but my friend thought the S he bought was a lemon.

s2000 definitely last a long time. i have several friends that are over 100k miles and still have one reliable car. its possible to once in a while get a lemon, such as the case with every car. but if you can get it, do it.

Stay away from modded and crashed ones. The one in question has been modded, and crashed. Tein flex coilovers suggest driving the car hard. And i wasnt extatic with the flexes on my s13. Also, the 2000 model year has no clock...

WTF?!! no clock?!! F#$K THAT!! i was so angry to find that out lol.

No, it's not my daily. It snows up in this bitch. I also put like 2700 miles a month on my GSR going back and forth to school and work. But my point is that i bought it with 18k September 06. So 34k isnt really SUPER LOW MILEAGE. 34k is pretty common. Just buy from a snowy state. This does two things: You get a low mileage car. PLUS you get a car that hasnt been driven in the snow (obviously, if it only has 20k or something on it it wasnt a daily), so you buy from someone who most likely took care of it. They're out there. Ones that havent been modded, or crashed with low mileage. I dunno maybe its not a big deal to you though lol. I refuse to buy a car that isnt mint.
