Default need some help with tires.

ok i drive an 06 civic si thats turbocharged pushing about 400whp. i cant get taction ever. so ive been in the market for some new tires for awhile now and ive asked this in other forums about which tire is best for drag racing because i go to the track almost once every week and i want to be able to get traction. well alot of people said the falken rt-615's so i was about to order those and someone said those are only good for auto-x. other people said bfg drag radial TA's. but i want to know what you guys think is better. because i was about to order the falkens like 10 min ago. and now someone said not to

those tires are not really made for drag racing. you have to either use specific Drag radials or slicks for the track for best results.

In your case, I doubt you will be able to run slicks, due to the rim size you are using. I'm assuming you're at least a 16" rim and if not most likely a 17" rim. The newer Civic and RSX, I know have bigger brakes and cannot use a 15" rim unless you downgrade on the type of calipers you use.

I'm not familiar much with Drag radials over 15", but I believe that Nittos make drag radials in 16" and possibly 17". check those out. thats most likely what will be best in your case.

i would hands down go wtih BFGs over Nittos. You will go through drag radials quickly regardless of which ones you get. I went through a set of 225/50/15 BFGs in a month and a half.

If your planning to run BFG drag radials in a 17", the only size available is 225/45/17 and you may run into a clearance issue.

If your interested PM for a price.

1200 miles on mine no sitting burnouts either, leaving marks in 3rd and 4th gear all day long though!

I'd say go with a drag slick such as the one that M&H sells.

Jeg's part# is 676-MHR-03 and the specs are 8.0/22.0/13.0. Jeg's sells them for $119.99 ea. I'd say that this will get you a fair amount of traction without adding a whole lot of excessive weight. Just get a 13" diameter wheel and you should be good to go.

Also, ZEX ran this tire on their civic test car. Check out zex.com and take a look under their project vehicles page. The blue civic has this tire, and ran some decent numbers with it.

Good luck with your car!

I don't own a Civic Si, nor will I ever care to own one. Just get what fits, but try to use an all out drag slick if possible.

well since I assume he is planning on running whichever tires he gets on the street, I wouldn't suggest getting a full slick.
