Speakers Connection Trouble - Weird
I recently pulled out an old aftermarket deck out of my girlfriend's 1994 Civic DX. I installed a Pioneer DEH-P4100 head unit. All the channels work except the driver's front. I checked the connection on the speaker they are OK. The speaker worked with the old radio. I connected the speaker leads directly up to a 6x9 speaker that had worked minutes earlier and nothing. BUT I accidently touched a one of the bare leads to the Dimmer wire and it works. It's quieter than the other side, but it does work while touching the dimmer switch... what does this mean?

Yeah, I'm using an aftermarket adapter. The factory harness is great. I fed other channels to that speaker and it worked fine. So it's just that front driver's side channel. I also found out that it only works if you touch the POS wire, and it does the same thing if you ground the POS wire. That makes no sense.

By touching one of the speaker output wires to the dimmer wire, you probably fried the output for that wire (each speaker gets 2 outputs). So now your speaker only gets half the voltage (from one wire), and therefore, 1/4 of the power that the rest of the speakers get.

Maybe, but the speaker didn't make any sound until I touched it to the dimmer. Then I heard sound from the CD player. If I removed it, nothing. It's the same if I touch it to a ground wire. So I don't think touching the wire to the dimmer really made it worse.
