Default Spoon head gasket, or Mugen head gasket?

Im in the processing of building and buying parts for my ITR, and Im gonna be running the JUN 3's with CTR pistons. I know that alone makes for tight clearance. However, I wanna RAISE compression a little more(if possible) with a head gasket. If my sources are correct, the Spoon gasket is thinner .45mm, and the Mugen is .47mm. That leads me to believe that the Spoon gasket will lower compression more, however, Im not sure if either gasket will work with the cam/piston setup I have. Can I get some opinions or suggestions? By the way, Ive already bought the cams and pistons, so dont tell me to buy higher compression pistons. Thanks.

DOH, typos are a bitch.

the gasket will RAISE compression.

stick with the stock gasket

you will be at 12:1 with the b16a head. close to 12.5 with gsr head.
do you really want more?

How are you going to tune the motor? I don't think your setup will work with a stock ECU.

Hondata.

Trillo, I was actually gonna go with the Vortech SC, but it would cost way to much to either A)bullet proof the bottom end(sleeves, pistons, rods, crank) or B)go with a B20 bottom end and bullet proof that. So I decided to just go all out with all motor(since thats what shes made for ) and see what I can get from her.

And Im sorry, I didnt realize the B16 and B18C5 used the same exact head. Does that mean the GSR head is not the same as the ITR and B16??

Anyway back to my question...should i keep the stock gasket or go with a thinner one??

If it's a daily driver stock gasket. 12.0:1 is high enough.

12.4/5:1 on pump gas is doable, but what if it pings?

Im not exactly sure what "pinging" is, so I cant answer your question. I think Ill just play it relatively safe and stick to the stock gasket.

ahhhh i didnt realize pinging and detonation were the same. i wont be driving it without having the system tuned with hondata so hopefully that can lower the risk of pinging.

Toda forged pistons A perfect 12.3 compression on stock headgasket and doesnt have the frailty of honda oem rings. Cant beat pct price though

why are the todas so much more for basically the same compression as pct anyway? Other than being forged?

true, sorry about that. Sgt, Im trying to compare the power from pct in a b18c5 compared to resleeving and goin with 84.5mm. I wanted to know if the stock itr rods can handle the 84.5mm, and if the engine will still have the ability to rev high.

i would think the stock rods could take it since most forged pistons are about the
same weight as the smaller bore cast ones.

The only thing to be concerned with is the diameter of the wrist pin. If it is not
the same as stock then you would have to go with a forged rod which is
full floating and can have the clearance set to the pin properly

Would a spoon gasket work on a stock motor, give it a few more ponies?

But it might be worthwhile? I want to get what I can out of the motor without getting cams, or risking reliability. I would pay a $150 for a few hp throughout the range...
