so i bought a ecu for my lst im looking to buy a dataloggin cable so i go on to http://www.xenocron.com/ and http://www.moates.net/ and i find these cables but the one has 3 wires and the other only has 2 but its still a 4 prong if it only needs 2 wires what are the other ones for, heres pics.

According to the pics you posted if you look closer both are 3 wires

 

i bought my cable from xenocron (the first cable pictured) and it was a 3 wire, they should all be 3 wire

 

hahaha i looked real close and there is 3 wires on both where is the fourth wire. i have a old hondata unit and it has 4 wires, red black, orange, brown

 

no need to worry about the 4th wire, i think it might be ground?

i think it is cuz u have Tx Rn 5+ then a Grnd btw this is not the order in which they go, just listing them

 

USB cables get their power from the Laptop so they only need 3 wires (Ground, Tx & RX)
