Default Buying a swapped EG. Need info plz.

Normally i would search for this, but since its more specific becuase of the type of swap i thought i would ask instead.

The EG im considering purchasing has this engine i'm about to list and am wondering what kind of power i could expect. I'm guessing about 180ish to the wheels, but let me know. Also wondering if this would on the higher end of the compression scale or lower.

b18c1 block
-ported polished
-type r internals
b16a1 head
-ported polished
-type r cams
-spoon sports adj cam gears
-aem fuel rail/regulator
-aem clod air intake
-apexi n1 exhaust
-jun header
-stage 2 clutch lightend flywheel
-skunk 2 8 point air/fuel control/vtec control

transmission is b18c1

Are you sure this motor has been modded with these parts? If you are really curious ask the seller to take it to a dyno before the sale.

It's common practice when buying a race car to meet the owner at the drag-strip, so they can demo the car with a couple runs down the strip...

If the owner told you the car has a "ported & polished" BLOCK, then I would probably stay away (since you can't port & polish a block)...

Basically you wont' know what your getting unless you see/measure it in action. At the very least you should G-tech the car while he drives it to get some performance data. Make sure it's the owner that's doing the driving, so there is no problems if the motor blows up cause he's a scammer...

I wouldn't buy a swapped car without...

1. Driving it for myself
2. Seeing receipts and proof of parts (if possible)
3. Checking entire car over (wiring especially...was it done half-***?)
4. Ask if the owner had it dyno'd...if they did...prove it with a sheet

Good luck

^^^ And IMO i wouldnt buy someone else's project. And how much does the person want for the car? How is the body? Everything that is listed, especially the Spoon and JUN products are not cheap... sounds like he may be asking more than its worth. How many miles on the motor?

^Werd...

I would NEVER buy someone else's Frankenstein especially if they don't know what they're doing.

If it were me...I would do what I already did.

1. Buy whatever motor/transmission set-up you want to run
2. Buy whatever car you want that motor/transmission to go in
3. Buy whatever performance parts you want and DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME with no cheap crap.....build it yourself or have a quality shop do the work.

i phoned the shop that had done the work, and its all legit. Prepped as a show car originally. The owner who had it done, got it done because his d16 went and he swapped this in and built it for show.

just lookin for some power numbers as the swap was done a few yrs ago and the dyno sheet is lost.

i'm not at all worried about picking up something broken with this vehicle. as the owner was very straight forward with all the current problems and previous so i dont see any reason for him to hide anything.

Get some pics up for sho.

Get him to give you a price on it in perfect condition...then deduct from that what it would cost to get it to perfect condition.

Well id guess its pushing way more than 180hp.Something like 210-220hp maybe.

How can you have typre R cams and spoon adj. cams at the same time?lol it must be fast!haha

Well it would probably be a good idea to test drive it,looks like one hell of a motor.B18C1,great torque, matched with type R internals and ported B16a1 head for high flow.Should be fast!

MAYBE 190ish at the crank...on a good day.

I'd guess 160ish to the wheels

And the op said "type r cams and spoon sports adj cam gears"...so Type-R camshafts and Spoon Sports cam gears on the end of the shafts.

Well im talking crank hp but i guess its kind high either way,180 crank hp a stock B18C1 has so considering type R pistons,B16 head, cams then i figure about 200-205 hp but that is around 190whp.

Its still pretty good wouldnt you say?

As for the cams haha i didnt notice he said cam gears.sorry!

Yeah I agree with ^ ! A ported and polished block? A statement like that should throw up a red flag. Seller has no clue what he is selling!!!

yes, the seller doesn't know. he bought it off the person who had it built because he thought it was a cool car. he listed the shop who built it. They remembered it well, however when i called, i didnt ask for dyno numbers because they probably wouldnt remember.

i'm buying an itr tranny w/ lsd to go with it.

just looking for some expected power numbers so i can decide on my route to my target power.

from my understanding, buddy built himself a "poor mans" b18c5. its been tuned with chrome. an itr puts out about 170 to the wheels stock if i remember correctly, so in a light eg like this and with the tuning, it should be about 180ish to the wheels. given the age of the build, its probably lost a hp or 2.
