Car running like dog poo!!
Hi this is a question about my beater 1994 Accord Lx. I was going to post this in the Accord forum but those guys are not that informative and since I am in this forum constantly for my 93 Prelude Si I figured that I would ask you guys. The motor is an f22 non vtec, same as the Prelude S, and it seems to idle and run fine when cold but once it warms up the trouble begins. The car misses so bad that it feels like it is going to die but doesn't. I thought that it might be the MAP, ICM, or IAC but since it is a clear miss i dont think it would be the IAC since that only controls air intake which the problem does not feel like. I was going to buy a MAP sensor but the Accord's is built into the throttle body and ours is on the firewall so i cant even just do a quick swap to see if that is the problem. I found someone selling one for a civic that claims it will fit my car but they are definitely different part numbers. Please help as I have done a full tune up including air filter, fuel filter, cap, rotor, coil. plugs. and wires but that didnt help.
The MAP is just bolted to the TB, not really built in. I'm sure you can hook up another MAP if you unbolt it.
You're not throwing any CEL's?

surely he must be throwing some CELs for at least misfire if nothing else. Does the car still misfire when you are driving/not idling. Are the RPMs just very low or is it a consistant misfire? being that it only happens when its cold it seems like it might be an IAC issue that is being hidden when it is cold because the FITV is letting the air in or as simple as an adjustment. How high is your cold idle?
Thats the weird part is that it does not throw a code! I wish that it would so that I could know where to keep searching. If i give it gas and bring it up to 1500 -3000 RPM in nuetral i can still fell it misfiring and it is not consistant, my cold idle is about 1600 RPM. And i understand that i do not have to swap the entire TB out but the MAP in the Prelude in on the firewall and has a vacuum tube running to a nipple on the TB so i cant just swap them to see if that is the problem.

Yes, you can swap them. Just give the MAP vacuum somehow (whichever one you're using) and plug it in.

Don't see why not as long as it plugs in.
