New civic si 2007 or used s2000; same price range.
If you need to have it explained to you then you're probably better off with the Si.
The s2000 speaks for itself. My S has 107k miles and runs and drives gr8. Stock to stock it also ran a train on my boys 07 Si. Not to say the Si cant be fast with a few mods. The S2000 is a drivers car and there's plenty of reasons why i would rock it over the Si. Test drive an S and listen to the VTEC with the top down

a Si is just a civic with some spoilers right, maby some bolt on performance parts, and a suspension difference? last time a checked a civic wasnt a sports car though people like to dump money into them and try to make them into something their not
i personally like rear-wheel drive cars and would not drive any other honda than an s2000. i went from a 3 series convertible to it and would never go back. you also need to decide if you want space for anything. thats the only problem i have with the car. i can only fit one women in it

the civic si and s2k are such different cars....IMO, the si doesnt even come close to the S. its a front wheel drive and doesnt handle or respond as well as the s2k's rear wheel drive, and better suspension setup. you will sit in an si and feel like your in some everyday car....but, you sit in an S, and you feel like your in a fighter jet(yes, i have sat in all 3). aside from the performance aspect, the S is pure sex, inside and out. the s2k wins this battle hands down. you can find a decently priced ap2(04-05) for the same amount as a newer/new si.
Insurance isn't a factor and the reason I ask because I love to drive but the only problem is the 4 seater vs 2 seater. Not like it's much of a problem but I just feel a bit weird to have a 2 seater which is used. I 'hear' that the si is a fun car to drive and so is the s2000.
I also see a '02 s2000 for $17grand w/ 50k miles from a dealer.

also we're obviously going to be biased...this is the s2000 forums. you can't decide what you want by people telling you over the internet, you gotta experience it yourself. do you have a beater for winter months?

the S2000 is totally under-rated. Even test driving it, its totally under-rated. Get in on a track even ONCE, and you'll be sold. Unfortunately, you'd probably have to own one to get to beat on it on a track. lol so you'll have to trust me on this. The S2000 is more fun to drive thatn the Si in proportions only described by The fact that I am a better looking guy than everyone on this forum. The S2000 towers over the Si in every factor of driving. Except for interior space, and practicality. Likewise, I am small, athletic, and very impractical.

Exactly. Test drive both then decide what's best for you. There's no way that we can tell you which car is a better choice for you.

if the s2000 is going to be your only car i would recommend getting the Si. If you have another car for a daily driver then get the s2000.

the fact that you are asking people which car for "your" needs is BS...
yes they are both very different cars and each have their own flavors...
also for those jumping down on the civic i seen a EP CTR stock vs. a S2K and the CTR won.. closed course with both moderate to good drivers each....

i dont see anyone knocking on the 'CTR', thats a whole different story. i see people saying that the s2000 is better than the 'Si' in a lot of ways.

There's just a little thing called RWD. We all know RWD>FWD.

lol no need to think about this one....s2000 for sure.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1299642
take a look at that thread, youll be sold when you see lowered s2k with oem front lips. ignore the ugly mugenized s2ks, body kit s2k's, totally ruins the s2000.

S2K. Just recently bought one and enjoy the drive every time. I had a 00Si and would not even consider the new Si against a S2K. I agree with the aforementioned comment, if you have to ask, you shouldn't get the S2K.
