Default Tech Q: Is there a rule of thumb for minimum upper ringland thickness?

Building a bit of a bastard motor right now (non Honda) with a stroker crankshaft stock rods and pistons. It's not much of a stroker but the piston tops stick a bit above deck. There's room to shave off the piston but it makes the one side of the ringland on the quench side of the chamber a bit thin. Comp is going to be in the 12-13:1 range, always on race gas. I was planning on a spacer gasket to take some of this up but the thickest one there is I still have to take .060-.080" off to make it just barely above deck. Just worried about the strength of the ringland at that point.

Don't say custom pistons because they're not in the budget for this one, hence the question.

Searched here and the reaches of the internet. Checked every book I have. No luck. I know there are a few of you here who defintiely know their stuff, so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks in advance.

Did I not ask the question right, or am I just losing it?
