hard to go in gear when idle
When the car is off gears go in smooth soon as i turn the car on it gets really rough goin in gears when at idle. shifting is much smoother while driving. Also put it into reverse and the car slightly rolls back with out me letting off the clutch. Ive also noticed with my previous cars when at idle i would depress the clutch i would hear noticeble tone difference(tranny gets quieter). with this tranny i hear no difference on or off the clutch. just bought the car and im unsure about its history. does this sound like its tranny or clutch prob. TIA
btw:the tranny is usdm itr w/ honda mtf

I do. Sounds pretty "text book" to me. Plus, not knowing the history of the clutch is a good reason to upgrade it.

I suggest revving the engine to about 7500 rpm and releasing the clutch pedal very abruptly while in first gear or reverse.
That should fix the problem.
Best to do this in a clear area away from children and shopping carts.

never heard of such a technique seems like it could do more damage than good.

Your clutch is toast - get a new one</TD></TR></TABLE>
Also could be a broken pressure plate. My ACT pressure plate had a spring crack, and the clutch would never completely disengage because of it.
Good luck with it.

your clutch master/slave cylinder can also be leaking as you might not be getting enough pressure in the lines. thats a posiblity.
easiest is to check clutch master by runing your fingers along the top of the clutch pedal and if you feel that it is greecy than your master is leaking.

i had an issue like this, i looked to adjust the clutch pedal and saw that it was leaking fluid into the car, and its not enough for the fluid to drop but enough for there to be less pressue in the system.
i also had an issue where my pressure plate broke on a different occasion and it was hard to shift, it was like shifting with no clutch where you just revmatch.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. T/O bearing, broken spring. You can rev-match to shift easier.

Update: im currently shopping around for a new clutch thinking about getting a clutchmasters kit.
I also am noticing that the warmer the car gets the easier it is to shift. Is this still a sympton of a bad clutch? thanks
