I've been doing alot of searching and researching on the TL intake systems available. I've found that there are a few pricey good ones (AEM and Injen) and of coarse the cheap knock offs when it comes to piping and filter intakes.
I build alot of turbo kits, mostly locally, where I do all the fab work of the charge piping myslef. Anyway, I began looking at my TL today and I can easily make a quality intake that will fit and perform just as good as the AEM. My concern is, is the market really open to custom intake or are the TL owners hooked on the "big name"? I can build and stock these 3-4 at a time, both short ram, cold air (2 piece) and a cold air 1 piece). All of which would use a true K&N filter, not a cheapo. I'd use T Bolts instead of worm clamps. Gates reinforced couplers instead of the weaker silicone ones (won't rip and cause boost leaks...which is irrelevant here...but anyway) All for a little more than the EBAYS but less than the AEM (by far). I'm just throwing the idea out to see if anyone would be interested. I quickly cut and tapped one today to fit on my car (the short) and will make the lower half probably tomorrow if I get free. I'll probably make a full 1 piece cold air as well.
I'd also like to do an intake that uses the stock air box and drop in K&N w/ a velocity stack at the bottom. (an alternative to the Icebox)

Awesome idea on the "icebox" spin-off.
About that two-piece set-up.....I noticed that Injen doesn"t have a 2-piece listed for a TL-S, but only for a non-S....do you see any resason for that?
Is a panel type filter more restrictive than a conical type filter? Just curious to see if there are any advantages to running a cone filter, rather than a panel type. Obviously a big advantage for a panel would be that it is contained within the airbox (no weather or heat to deal with), but as far as "flow" goes......?

I don't know why Injen only makes a cold air and no short for the S.
I don't see anything wrong with the panel filters either, both flow very well.

I would be interested in a version of the AEM V2 for the CL-S 6 speed (since they don't make those). if you can fab one that will fit, produce the same numbers and sound you'll have a market (at least for CL-S6)

Tat is definately next on the agenda. I have the intake and it's components lined up and mapped out. I hope that mine will make great power. IMO it has an advantage over AEM's (that will be shown when I actually post it up
)
