Default type r head

i know that the head on a b18c5 comes with a mild p&p job. i was wandering if do u really need to have more work done to the ports for a street car. my goal is 200 t0 210hp at the wheels and before i go sending my head off some place. i jus twanted to know if i needed it for my goals.

i would be using:
type r head and valve terrian
buddy club spec III cams
buddy club cam gears
gsr block bored to 82mm ( had some deep scraches)
82 mm USDM type r pistons
skunk 2 intake manifold
gsr transmission
hondata s200 obd1 p72 ecu
rc 310cc injectors

Personally if I did anything it would only be a 3 angle valve job but thats all. If your gonna be using the bigger cams I'd really look @ using a little higher compression pistons. Like maybe 12:1's, big cams tend to like higher compression to work right. Good luck.

You should definately put down good numbers with that setup. I'd guess somewhere around 200 to the wheel. A stock Type r port job would be cool, the homies CTR head had mad flo. If you haven't purchased the head yet, get a B16 and just send it to a Machine shop; should probably be cheaper and you'd get more bang for your $$$

yah i already have the head. the motor is built right now with the exception of the injectors and cams. right now im using type r cams the buddy club cams are sitting in a box in my room cus when i put them in i ended up blowing the motor cus the timeing was off. my gsr head was junk so i bought a type r head from acura. im gonna buy the injecters soon and then take the car to a shop with a dyno and have them install the cams, injectors and hondata and do all the tuning for me. if i can break 200hp i would be the happiest guy alive

no. after blowing my engine, i noticed i had some deep groves in my #4 cylinder and had to be cleaned out. 81.5mm wasnt enough so i had to go up to 82mm to clean it up. i searched the interned for a b18c rebuild kit and found one on ebey
for $550. i was from some company called ROCK. i called them up and told them what i needed and they had some type r replicas at 82mm so i got them. they even have the anti friction coating on the skirts. they are made at us specs only they are 82mm insted of 81 so my compression is some where around 10.8 inted of 10.6. Later im gonna get a thinner head gasket and try to get 11 to 1.

Nonsense.

I tuned a USDM ITR with BC3+'s and boltons to 196whp. Those cams work well on mild 1.6-1.8L motors.

It would be more appropriate to say it would be easier to break the 200whp barrier with bigger cams.
