Turbo D16
I have a 94 civic EX coupe with the stock D16 @114k miles. i'm in the process of building a turbo kit... first of all i have a T3 Flange on my Mani and apparently A T4 or T3/T4 wont fit on it as far as i'm told but thats only one guys opinion. i've heard that it will and i heard that a T4 flange is slightly larger so it won't... need EDUCATED advice... i'm so tired of these dumbasses trying to tell me whats going on.... also my compression is like this; | 151 | 164 | 151 | 164 | so does my

engine look like it could handle 8 Psi safely? some people tell me they've run D16's with higher miles @ higher boost and it was fine, but i never see these cars or they "blew a gasket or something, don't worry it'll be fine" so again i'm looking for experienced honest advice. this is my driver so i don't want to be stupid with it. i'm trying to get the most power as safely as possible. it will be tuned and intercooled so please let me know. thanks guys

you always have to remember its not PSI that kills motors it horspower. u could run 15 PSI on stock internals but the tune will have to be running super rich.( im just making a point and setting an example.) but if u tuned it to get power u'll blow ur **** up eventually. i would go for 5-7 and try to tune it as best as possible and it will be reliable and fast.(its all in the tune and the horespower.) u could blow ur **** up with only 5 psi so make sure u tune it good. i dont know whos tuning ur car or wut ur tuning with.
good luck

</TD></TR></TABLE>exactly! im also in the process of turboing my d16y8 to 200whp hopefully with only 7 psi and any higher than that is pretty scary and not reliable.although i would run 11psi if i wanted to smoke a rsx!!mmuuaahhahhhaa

hmmm. well i'm not sure about the guy either. i met him through a friend...says he's tuned over 15 turbo civs and no probs. uses an ostrich i think. said it'd cost me 30 bucks to chip my ECU and he'd charge me $50 for an hour of dino tuning... he's the only person i know in spokane washington... but a T3/T4 will fit huh?

yea, people r always thinking its PSI because that the pressure in the engine, but it s actually just ur engine making so much extra power that it goes poof! it makes sense that PSI is the reason a motor blows but its just not

i love misinformation
anyway, most people agree that the ~220whp range and under is the safe range, but many have pushed further. If you want more turbo D specific answers and setups, go to http://www.turbod16.com
