Depends on what hood you are using some of the hood have metal bracings and just laid over C/F while other are all c/f.

I'm pretty sure the only way you could save 30lbs is by running with no hood at all . . .
The entire stock hood with latch, weatherstripping, insulation, emblem, and squirters barely weighs over 30lbs. 35 at most.
It also depends on which carbon fiber hood you're looking at. Some are much heavier than others.
15-20lbs is a more realistic number for weight savings.

I had similar measurements. My SIR VIS hood weighed 16lbs and the stock hood close to 30.
I dont know what kind of car you have but if you have a crx and want to drop a lot of weight for cheap get a hf bumper support its much lighter.

Carbon fiber molds are made by waxing a hood and making a mold of the hood. Its also possible to wax the hood, and directly lay the carbon fiber on the hood, using the hood as a mold.

yea but its fiberglassed, and along the way they decided to make it an abomination of epic proportions.
i havn't seen anything that ugly since 1997, that was a serious blast from the past in terms of vomit/burp sensations.

you're aware you'll be forced to run full hoodpins, the factory latch cannot hold that flimsy thing down....
