its really up to you id say, the manifold looks ok, the downpipe looks like crap to be honest. the welds are horrible in some sections. I dont think you would need to brace that manifold looks alright enough to go without them.

You got a good deal though thats all that matters, who gives two craps about the welds. Its a good deal and the welds look pretty, actually they don't look that pretty.

Cutting the flange won't help, if the welds are **** there going to crack, no matter what. I see undercut welds on the manifold, which will crack ( near the collector ) . And I don't have to open my mouth about the downpipe

But hey it was a good deal right

just tighten the head bolts after you heat cycle it a couple times and it should be fine i'd think.

ffs whats with these manifold makers...

all they wanna do is make the welds look all pretty n ****, while they get 0 penetration.

that downpipe is terrible, didnt even debur it. its gonna crack like a bitch trust me.

also with the manifold not even full penetration. i wouldnt pay for that ****.

It was not him but I wont mention names either. I did get everything for about a price of a log (tube) manifold though.

The spot you point out is actually a misaligned piece (I think/hope)

Then who cares if it cracks and leaks, as long as you got a good deal, thats what its all about....

Bracing won't help if the welds in general suck, the heat and the way the metal moves will break the welds.

if your happy with the price you paid then it doesnt matter if the downpipe falls off 100 miles from now enjoy the ride while it last

Neat. I've never known anyone with the ability to tig weld that wouldnt take the time to debur a cut.

wow. there is some HUGE undercut on the collector. i seriously think that is going to crack, especially if it's not braced, but most likely even if it is braced!
while some of the welds aren't horrible, whoever fabbed this is VERY inconsistant.

i'd try to get my money back. i can't believe someone could make that downpipe, look at it, and then think it was good enough to box up and ship.
wow. it doesn't take that long to debur a cut, come on.

Um, did the guy maybe forget to do a final pass in pic #2? Or...are these single-pass fusion welds??

I hope you enjoy the money you saved, maybe you can treat yourself to a lapdance with it before the multiple re-welds eat it all up. I just hope you didn't pay more more than the cost for materials.

lol, I paid cost and nothing more. We will see how far it gets me. I expected quality to be a bit better but I guess you live and learn.

It was more of a mutual favor through a friends friend.

So is it a member on h-t ? Wait you want to protect the guy....

Good luck with the manifold, they all look like 1 pass, under cut welds. Hopefully the guy is not selling more stuff like that to average people.

Maybe you can find someone else that can tig weld. and have them make another pass over some of those welds?

Wow! Those welds are horrible. As far as penetration goes we never want to completely burn threw cuz it obstructs flow and we've never, never had a manifold crack in over 400 manifolds and over half of them running 42rs and runnin 8's. First of all the collector welds are some of the worst I've seen. Secondly his pipe fitment is not right and undercut like stated above. You should've bout one from me.
This is what they should look like...

Pics resized for you O.P.

Where's the DP pic?

A whole lot of undercutting and misalignment on that mani. Definitely not a very quality mani. It looks like who made it has some potential, but they need more practice before selling to others.
