is that my alternator? I thought it was a vaccum leak, cause I rev it over 3k and its gone... but then I think it might be my alternator, I revved it to 5k and it went away, sorta worried. I drove over 30k miles on this alternator in less than 1 year so its still under warrenty, I just want to know if its that before i take it out
Hey what do you mean Idle problems cuz im having similar problems the battery light goes on when im driving and when i come to stop the engine idles funny rpms move up and down?? Is that your problem???ANYONE KNOW IF IT COULD BE THE ALTERNATOR???
here is a quick simple check to find out if your alt is bad without pulling anything.
1. Start car.
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
3. If car dies, alt is going bad.
4. If car still runs, not your alternator.
Check connections and maybe volt regulator.

It's not bad for your car. Your battery is just a storage unit for initial spark to start engine. When your engine is running, it should be running off off the alternator and your battery should be charging.
