Jumpy Idle
i'm about to pick up a really clean stock DA today and the only problem it has right now is that the idle jumps from 1k-1500 when stopped and the battery indicator light is on. The seller told me that the battery is new and that the alternator went out on him within a couple days ago. Do you think that a bad alternator would cause this problem? Or what else would be the cause of that?
A bad power source, ground or alternator, can cause a jumpy idle and thats probably why the battery light is on. If your going to be the one fixing it I would suggest taking the alternator apart because it probably just needs new brushes that are 5 bucks at the parts store instead of buying a new alternator for $100+
thanks for the quick reply, i already bought a nice rebuilt alternator for $50. So what else should I check for or I need to replace? I'm gonna be replacing the alternator and belt later today and I wanna make sure I get rid of that problem!
If it still does that check all your grounds on the battery and the chasis. Then check for vacuum leaks, clean you IACV valve and if it still doesn't stop, youve got issues on your hand
