Alright I havent driven my car for like 8 months, but the last time it was started was around 3 mos ago. Anyway its bein built to get back on the road, and when I started it today, the engine light came on.

I have no idea why, because I didnt mess with anything. When I try and rev it, it sounds like its gonna bog at around 2.5, then it picks up alright. There is a bit of gas in there so I dont know what that problem is.

Also I realized a while ago that my car wont rev past 5k when in any gear. So I cant launch my car higher than that which sucks. I put in 2 different ecus and the same result. Also the motor is a 2nd gen, and I am OBD1.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

 

sounds like limp mode to me. does obd1 have limp mode? if its in limp mode its most likley a bad distributor.

 

Anyway to find anything out???

I had a similar problem throwing code 4 and it was my dizzy

 

I cant check what code it is. I dont have an ecu jumper harness or whatever, and neither of my ecus have a light anywhere on them.

Another thing is my car is blowing whitish smoke, its been doing that for a while though and the check engine wasnt on. But I am still worried about that because smoke isnt normal, right??


Also if my car is in limp mode, would that effect performance?? Because everything else seems to function normally.

 

white smoke!?!?!? i had that problem, i was burning antifreez!!!!!. blew my motor today...looking for a b16a now....id get it looked at A.S.A.P.

 

Yeah... white smoke could be that you had a bunch of water sitting in your exhaust pipe, or something bad, like a blown head gasket. I started a bike up that had been stored all winter, and it smoked for about 15 minutes hardcore style while all the water in teh exhaust system boiled off.

Clogged cat maybe?

edit, I didn't catch that part about it blowing white smoke fora while now... it's not exhaust water.

 

I thnk the smoke might be the cat cause its been dong it for a whle like I said. But honestly the check engne make me more concerned, considering it sounds like its bogging at 2.5k and it turned on from nowhere.

 

doesnt gas start to go bad after about 3 months?
