Default <><>< OXYGEN SENSOR QUESTION !! ! !

I accidently ripped my o2 sensor wires (4 wire) and if i solder it back together will i still be able to pass smog? one of my shop teacher says that extending the o2 is illegal so I really don't know if it'll pass smog. and also is it a good idea to get a new one? i was thinking about NTK's o2 sensor, would that one pass smog? thanks for ur future help!

if your going to extend the wires, go with a thicker gauge wire ( lower number gauge) because the resistance grows with an extended wire. The o2 wires are 18 gauge I believe.

My check engine light came on occasionally telling me that the o2 input was slow. It hasn't come back since I resoldered thicker wires on there. I used a 12 gauge because that was the only one I already had.

I'd imagine that it would matter. I just looked at a wiring diagram and each wire goes through a different path. so in short, yes it does matter. gl
