Any Ex-V8 owners?
Im looking to sell my stang for a s2000.
Basicly I want a car that I can drive all year round and not worry about gas and snow, mainly snow. I've read that many of you guys/girls do infact drive in the snow with proper tires.
From searching I found that the s2000 when compaired to my mustang will be low on space and power. I understand that these are two different cars.
Is there any V8 gear heads that made the change?
Are you happy?

not to be rude but there's tons of car that fits the category(snow and gas).
not really sure you want to drive it in the snow, it's really tail happy as it in the dry. Some people put snow tires on but your best bet will be a beater.
it's not that great of gas saver neither..300 mile per tank if you baby it(which you will not, if you are used to the torque from turbo/big displacement)

I have a beater and it sucks driving a car that you hate to drive for 3-4 months of the year
, this is the main reason Im look to get an s2000.
As for gas, 300 per tank would be great. I get 160-170 at best.

300 miles per tank?!!!! ya right, i drive entirely highway and get 260 at the most, as for the snow, dont even think about it, but s2000 is way better overall car than a mustang, if you want jus an all out 1/4 mile monster this isnt the car for you

300 per tank is not uncommon, again, not to be an **** but maybe learn how to take it easy on the skinny pedal?

well i get like 22-25mpg atleast. I got 18mpg driving to the track, and road racin for 2 days. You could get 18mpg in a mustang if you shifted at 1.5k all the time and never floored it ever.
S2000 is much more of a refined car than a mustang. It's not going to have the raw torque and 1/4 mile ability or ease. It is however, better EVERYWHERE else. Also, in stock form a GT vs. S2000 race wouldnt really be fair to the GT. It would get embarassed, turn red, and explode from the beating the S2000 would put on it in ANY category...err...except burnouts. I LOOOVE burnouts.
You might not be happy. They're totally different cars. The S2000 is a true sports car, though. So it's almost the opposite of a mustang. Iduno, drive one and see if you're satisfied.

well here. I just raced a mustang yesterday in my 00 S2000 with intake. I think it was an 03. It was a gt. It definitely had exhaust. I dont know what else. Maybe intake, because it sounded kinda loud from the front as i passed it up
Feels good to know that i could win that race ANYWHERE.
But i still dont think you'll like the S2000 if you come from a mustang or something like that. as evidenced by this:

They're just really different cars. The S2000 also takes a bit to get used to driving wise. It really doesnt drive like a normal car. I think it would make a shitty daily unless you live in an all-time summer state like killafornia or Las Vegas, or arizona.

today i was driving next to a cobra mustang and we kept getting on it but it didnt look fast .... ford is the 6 to last for reliable cars with honda right under subie at 2nd place
Thanks for the input. I think I need to go for a long test drive to make up my mind.
My stang is a 99GT, runs 11.8's It should out handle a stock GT but comes knowhere close to the S2000.
Can you sit in your S2000 for long drives and not get tired/board, is it comfortable?

for a long drive? if im driving for 2+ hours my lower back gets sore. it doesn't have a tun of lumbar support but the seats are really comfy other than that and hold you in quite nicely. vtec=cure for boredom.
I used to own a 5.0 306 with vortech s/c 10psi it wasnt my everyday just a weekend warrior I sold. Havent bought an s2ooo but have driven a friends before hand and fell in love with it. You are going enjoy it, I cant wait to get mine before summer ends. I seen 400whp cobras 03-04 be used in winter with the right tire combo and a little weight in the back. So I am pretty sure an s2ooo can be driven in the winter.

Basic math.
311 miles / 10.6 gallons on fill up = 29.33 mpg. Close enough. And I get those numbers consistently.
You say supposedly, which means you don't even pay attention to your mileage, but rather get the facts from some text?

I agree. I almost never take it above 4500rpm. In 6th gear.
As for the other gears....well, they set the redline there for a reason. I figure I didn't sacrifice utility and practicality to get one of the finest and purest $30000 driving machines ever conceived....so that I could conform my driving style, indeed go against the very fiber of my being, in order to save $6.50 a tank.
