best d series carbed?
ive searched but not really found much, whats the best way about going about a carburated d series, 90's prelude, or simuliar, im wanting to put a better parts available engine like a d in a 1-2gen civic but i want to keep it carbed?
fuelmap=tells fuel injectors what to do
carburator= uses a system called "jetting" to adjust the mixture of fuel
im talking about running a completely carbed car, kinda like a 68 nova, no computer

I'm aware of what jetting is. What you're not aware of is how difficult it would be to make a modern engine, which is built on a fuel injected platform and a myriad of sensors to function properly, run with a hardwire system.
Just fully rebuild an old carbed motor and make it run like a top.

thanks man i app it. i it has a ed1 1500 cvcc, but i wanted something with a little more potential. i dont know how the aftermarket is for those engines, i just dont want to hassle with fi.

The aftermarket is zero to none. You'll have to use muscle car parts (carburators, etc). There's almost no "honda only" parts for the old carb'ed motor.
Check out this month's Honda Tuning magazine, there's a feature on a '74 Civic 1200 that used to run SCCA runout races in the 80's.

Ok, as far as motors that have potential:
B18A (1.8 DOHC Carb) from 86-89 JDM Accords
B20A3 (2.0 SOHC Sidedraft Carb) from 90-91 USDM Prelude 2.0 S
ES (1.8 SOHC Carb) from 84-87 JDM Prelude
And of course, there's the carbed ZC motors (1.6L SOHC Dual Carb) from the JDM Integra ZX/ZXi.
As far as USDM civic carbed motors, they're all "E" series motors. They all have 70hp or less.

i think i like the idea of the b20a3. cheap, i know its nothing like the other b's, but swapping that 110/115 from the stock 50/67 seems like a nice jump already. mounting it might be a trick in itself though.
i know there is some guy running carbed d serie on http://www.d-series.org you might find somethin interesting there
it shouldn't be all too bad because the car is designed to support the cabs (ie: fuel pump will supply 7# of pressure instead of 45). I'd say one of the biggest challenges would be trying to fit the motor into the older chassis with the lack of aftermarket support. There's carb'd honda guys out there because some racing bodies specify that if you run fuel injection that you have to have weight penalties and such so a lot of guys just go carb'd.
I'm about to start a similar project with an '84 CRX that is carbed from the factory. I'm going to use the D16A1 motor that I already have and get a pair of the Weber 45's or Mikuni 44 sidedraft carbs and have a buddy of mine weld me some intake runners for me to bolt it to. It sounds good in my head, I just hope it will go together the way I invision it.
Good luck on your project.
With a little bit of time and effort, you'll get er done.
