F1SPEC seat in CRX
here is a how to basically to put your Recaro SPG, Sparco Evo, Memoryfab, F1Spec, Vision, Buddy Club seats into your car. this was done on an 88 crx, im not sure how much different the 89-91 rails are, but same basic concept. just buy the F1spec mounts, with honda tech special deal
and mount seat of your choice. nice way to save almost 150.00. pictures are self explanatory i think. the f1spec mounts do need to be modded to fit, elongation of the holes by 1/4" on each side only. a round rat tail bastard file takes care of that easily. let me know what you think. im sitting in the correct position, i forgot to put my legs out. whoops. also, please sticky this if it meets FAQs criteria.

well, since i got the seat, i decided almost 100% that i will keep the CRX. im really happy now with the seat. now im fixing neglected stuff little by little. i am replaced my passenger side axle this weekend along with flushing my radiator fluid.
well if you measure the length and width of yours, i can measure mine and compare. shouldnt be too much of a difference where you couldnt use the mount. i should be as the so cal EF meet next weekend, as long as i get the axle and radiator fluid changed this weekend.
my head is 1-2 inches from the roof as i sit now in the racing seat. in the stock crx seat, i actually hit my head on the roof. thats the reason for the need for my new seat. im 6'1" with a long torso, neck. i cant go any lower i dont think, any lower and im sitting the the floorboard. for a normal 6 foot person, you would sit lower.

i cant really use custom brackets, i already inspected clearances. the seat width is about the same width as the rails, bolt holes. the only way to get lower would be to have a racing seat in a fixed position with no adjustability which would suck since im always using my car for everything, moving, parts, road trips. it wouldnt be functional in my case but thanks for the idea. criticism is always appreciated.
Thats right you have to move the rails out...so the holes won't line up but then you can drop it right down then. Then you can keep your rails and the seat will go back and forth like stock and you'll have more head room. You just need a differnt side bracket because it won't work with those.
my driver seat was broken, its sitting in storage, the pan was broken(area where top part of seat mounts to lower seat cushion on right side broken), but pretty good shape. just a little tearing on the normal area (left shoulder area). im debating weither to find another pan and reupolster them both. to tell you the truth, the seats were really dirty when i bought it. i used water and oxyclean and a nylon brush scrubber and scrubbed them down, then used a craftsman shop vac to suck up the excessive water. ghetto steam cleaning for the win. i did that over 2 years ago, and the seats still look pretty clean as shown in the pictures.

na, i wanted to keep it simple and clean, if someone in the nursing field like me can do it, then anyone should be able to also, i kinda always wanted to post a thread worth being a DIY. the seat is already touching the rails on the bottom basically, it looks like i could only gain an inch at the most. any lower and i would have to reach up to put my arm on my door when im driving.

if anyone rolls over in a crx, they are pretty much dead. im tall as the pics show, but im thinking about an autopower roll bar, but i dont want to lose my rear speakers, cause i want to get the replica jdm basstubes to have decent sounds. i like the stock look and i like the stiffness that the roll bar would provide, choices.... choices

it has a little bit of flex, it makes a some noises when i first sit down, i think its cause i havent checked the bolts again to see if any of them need to be tightened again. holds me in place very well, no need to brace myself. im not happy with the dull black gelcoat, but i havent cleaned it yet, so it may just need to be cleaned. i wont know for sure how well i like it until my roadtrip next week. i love how i no longer hit my head on the roof, and the blind spot created by my rear view mirror is gone. previous seat height blocked my view of the car to the right at a four way stop. if the gel coat does stay dull, i will just rattle can it gloss black. the little lumbar, kidney pads could have been more thicker, no memory foam as compared to memoryfab though, only on their special edition type 3s. definitely worth the price to me.
wish my stupid crx came with stupid stock seats so I could bolt all 4 sides down to the stupid car. Ridicululous.
Im pretty pissed about the gelcoat myself. I had bought a pair of type 1s and they were hella clean with silver fiberglass backing. These type 3's I got are dull as hell and black. I just sprayed some original finish on it and it looks better. Nothin to jump up and down about, im probably gonna try some wax over the weekend.
