I know the specs say that the 2002 CR-V's towing capacity is 1500lbs anybody successfully towed more than that?? I'm needing to tow around a 2k lbs boat... just local, (i.e. max 20 miles round trip) very flat area... except maybe a few of the boat ramps...

Any thoughts??

Ok, so here's what I've found... on the honda UK, website it list the Specs for the UK CR-V, same engine/tranny Towing capacity w/trailer breaks @ 3500lbs... I'm gonna get a Tranny Cooler though to be on the safe side ;-)

 

The boat ramps in my area are steep and i would be a little timid pulling my boat out of the water with a crv. But then again i have never tried and im pretty sure it would be fine for short trips like the one you're describing.

 

Greetings from over the pond. The limits over here (UK) are 3300lb for a manual tranny and 2450lbs for an auto. Mine is a 03 CRV with a 5speed manual and I have towed my caravan (3100lb) without problems for the past 3 years (28,000 miles). No problems on the hills or cruising on the motorway at 65. cheers

 

definitly wouldnt reccomend towing past the manufacturers recomendation.... i see too many engine and trans claims from this at my job as a warranty adjuster. if you inisist on towing with it, dont tow in overdrive.

 

Towed my 5g hatch with a dolley a couple times,no probs. Just started in a lower gear until i got a little momentum. 55-60 mph on the highway. Didnt feel safe above that. i'm just a chicken tho!
