end all ??'s for b-series hood clearece thread.
I've done a lot of searching and lurking around but can't seem to find a definite answer concerning b-series swaps and hood clearances with the "factory usdm hood"
what motor mounts are you guys using for your B-series swaps? and does it clear the hood without rubbing? I really would like to avoid cutting the under skeleton of my oem hood.
can anyone provide some good information?
any feedback for the b16/b18c will be appreciated.
thanks.

I had to cut under my hood and it still barely made contact so I got a usdm sir cf hood. I have a b18c and hasport mounts. My buddy had a b16 with hasport mounts and stock(uncut) hood.
I know the type r has the b16 head, making it shorter, I dont know about its fittment

I also have a b18c1 with Hasport mounts. the webbing was cut by the first owner, and I've since added in 1/2" spacers at the hinges and now it clears. without the spacers the spark plug cover bolts hit the hood. this is with the stock usdm hood.

FWIW, the non-vtec heads are shorter than the vtec heads, but glad the B20 fit nicely

From what I understand hasport has two B-series mount kits for the EFs, one set for the GSR motor and one set intended for normal B16s. Not sure how valid that is but It makes sense due to deck height and ground clearance issues on say a B20vtec for example.
89 crx b16 a used innovative mounts hood slightly rubs towards the front of the valve cover... didnt mod the hood at all
actually hasport re-designed their mounts, due to positioning of the engine in our chassis. The new mounts allow for hood clearance, and also I'm pretty sure they corrected the issue with the rear mounts breaking over time. Personally I am using the older hasport mounts, and my hood does rub a little. To fix that I used longer bolts, washers, and some rubber bushings to prop the hood up a little bit by the windshield. expletive all you"anti rice" ***** on this site who cant accept, and only appreciate those with 999999 posts...... so ya theres a solution to rubbing valve covers with hoods n stuffs

Corrected for language.
Also, I don't have any problem with shimming a hood some but I would like to know, anyone have any idea what the difference between the new and oldschool hasport mounts is? I'd like to figure out which I have before I drop the engine in.

i guarantee that using hasport mounts for a b16 will 100% not hit the bottom of your hood..i will try to take pic when i get off from work...
