Is a $500 turbo setup possible?
I've got $500 in the bank and a friend selling his IC and new t3 .42 trim for $200. Its a steal, and I want to boost my car. I'd be aiming for 200whp running around 6 psi. This is on a stock b18b with 162k miles on the clock with stock replacement clutch and exhaust. In all seriousness could I piece something together for $500-600?
What is a basic shopping list of must haves? The lists vary a bunch out there.
Turbo (duh)
Turbo manifold
Downpipe
FMU
Manual boost controller
IC + piping
Do I need a new exhaust? My clutch has 2000 miles on it and its a stock replacement. Could it handle 160+/- tq

It's possible, but it will be ghetto as hell.
If you want to do it right, you need to spend some more cash. I just finished up a budget turbo build and I spent right around $1300.

sounds like a shitty setup to me and will prolly cause problems but ur call. i on the other hand would definitely not go with that cheap of a setup. boost puts enough pressure on ur motor. something of no quality will not help that
You gotta think about couplers, clamps, oil lines, don't use an FMU if you like the car so crome or something. Misc random **** that always happens.
You are on the right track though. I would say with time and patience 1000.00 is a very good budget to try and stick with.
But that is without injectors or a tuning system.

It will cost more if your friend makes the mani/piping etc.
Materials alone on a manifold are over $100, piping and flanges will be at least another $150-$200 if you are lucky. Then couplers, a blow off valve, etc. it adds up really really quickly.

do you understand it will cost you about $500 for a good tune?
don't spend all of the money you have in the bank on your integra.
edit: here is a link from one of the best tuners in the NE and the prices

it cant realistically be done because the turbo would cost around 200$ mininum and a decent wastegate is atleast 100$ and thats if your super lucky..... intercooler... ill say 20 $ just to throw some slack... injectors..... even dsm injectors run over 70-200$ depending on what you get.
500 isnt realistic..... 800-1000 is defitnatly doable.

Because you have a car that has fairly high mileage, $500 for a cheap and reliable set-up is a bit of a streach, even with the IC and turbo comming in at $200.
If I were you I would pick up that deal and sit on it for a while. You can piece together a kit for fairly cheap. Save and piece it together, thats how a lot of people on a budget roll. Also realize that tunning will cost you a minimum of about $400~$500.
