Default wheel/tire gurus

i have the factory ap1 wheels on my S and i was looking to upgrade to a set of 17's...the issue is that the S has a large hub bore size in the front preventing me from getting certain wheels...but what i would like to know is: will a 17x7.5 either 45 or 48mm offset and 73mm hub bore all the way around be fine for an only street driven S...if so what size tires would you recommend being that front and rear rims are the same size? if it matters the S is not lowered and if it ever will be it will only be an inch or less...thanx...and yes i did search for an hour last night

someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the fronts are a 73mm bore, and the rears are a 68mm, it might be the other way around though. if thats the case, that would work, all you would have to do is get some hubcentric rings for the wheel thats bore is bigger than the hub. i would prefer non-staggered wheels, your going to disrupt the handleing characteristics a lot.

well i would like to get an 17X8+ in the rear but the bore size in the wheel for that size is to small...i may just look for other rims...but if i can counteract the rim width issue by selecting corresponding tires that meet or exceed the tread width and are near the diameter of the stockies both fron and rear i would like to do that

you could do that....

if you do, i would go

17x7.5 front 45 offset or 48

17x7.5 rear 48 offset...... with the rear, i would get hubcentric rings

and tires i would run 215 45 front

and 245 40 rear.....

however, i personally would choose other rims better suited for the car....

most site sell the rings in sets of 4's and after reading alot of internet jabber i was under the impression that i would need four and not just 2 for the rear...and the front and rear bore size being different i did not want to have to buy 2 sets of 4 rings...im just gonna call around...thanx for your help

well I found my rims in 17x7 45et 73mm bore for the front and 17x8.5 48et 73mm bore for the rears...so all i need now are the rings and a balance between the right tire size, grip and treadwear w/ more of a priority on grip

on stock ap2s i run 215s front and 255 rears. ap2s are the same size as the wheels you just said. i got bridgestone Potenza RE750s they handle great. i believe you can run 225s in the fronts also..
