Default A simple 5pt cage

Here's some pics of a basic 5pt cage with removable door bar on a 97 VW GTI VR6. The car has gone 11.2 so far and they wouldn't let him run anymore, so since it's really a street car, we opted for the min. required for 10.0 or 135. The removable door bar is nice because on the street you just pull it out and it's like you don't have a cage at all.

Kinda hard to tell from the pics, but the top of the bar touches the headliner.

Nice work, I like how tight the bar is to the door.

Did you fab the hardware for the door bar? Is that a kit?

so you jam a fence post between 2 trees to bend it? would you use a 4 wheeler or a truck to pull on it? I have a draft horse too if that would work better.

That's pretty cool. What hardware is used to fasten the door bar in place? Is it similar to a swing out bar?

The swingouts are from Chris Alstons Chassis works, they're very nice machined pieces. A little pricy, but a nice way to do a street car. Makes working under the dash a little easier too.
