96 GSR snapped timing belt
hi am new too this site i got a 95 civic with a 96 GSR swap i snapped a timing belt a while back have'nt pulled the head yet but i don't no whats cheaper too just replace the whole head with a reman or change the vavles i can get a head for 400 but if it's cheaper too replace the vavles what kind should i get? thanks for ur help guys
400 bucks for a clean rebuilt GSR Head sounds better than repairing 100-200 bucks worth of parts. Plus Time, Plus no warranty, plus dirty head that had been partially repaired without new valve seats. But I have no experiance rebuilding or repairing a head anyways.
Where are you getting this $400 rebuilt head?

am getting it from ADC there sites down right now but thats the price one of there tellers gave me with a 1 year 20,000 mile warranty but what else wood i have too do other the switch out the head?
Are you automatically assuming that you messed the head up,
or Do you know for a fact that you bent valves, or did other damage?
You can sometimes get away with nothing happening, and just replace the belt.

well i know it's a interference motor and from what people have told me there's a 5% chance that it's just the belt but i don't no for sure the heads still on the motor

ditto. do a compression test or if you have access to shop air a cylinder leakdown test. chances are since most honda motors are interference motors, your valves are probably bent. you should atleast verify which cylinders are bad and then see how much valves are bent.

a leak down test will not tell you how much valves are bent. it will tell you whether the intake or exhaust valves are bad in this situation

i have snapped 2 timing belts on 2 different cars and came out alive, it is worth spending 40 bucks on a new belt and try to get your remaining head to work, your going to be buying a new belt anyways
