Small weird problem
Ok so I have a 98 GS Automatic. Ya I know auto sucks. Anyway, When I open the door the cars makes the beepy noise as if I left keys in it when its off, but without any keys in it. It just makes it whenever I open the door. And I think its linked up to another weird problem. Since the door started making the noise, every time I hit the button on my shifter ONLY when its in P it makes a loud click. Doesnt do it any other gear only in Park. Its sounds to me like the click is coming from behind the dash, maybe a relay or something. I think the two problems are linked up because it had done this once before and both problems stopped at once. Then it just started up again and both came back. If anyone knows that it is let me know how to stop it. Thanks
The click is natural. there's a small piece of plastic under the shifter that locks the shifter in place once it's in park, and only dissengages when u put ur foot on the brakes. It's been a long time since my teg was automatic but if I remember right it'l click every time u put ur foot down on the brake petal. As to the keys thing, I'm not sure why it would be beeping if the keys aren't in there, maybe the sensor is broken, but it's only a slight annoyance.
But the click only happens when I push in or release the button when in P. Its a decently loud click that never sounded like that before. It only started a few weeks ago. I was thinking it might be some kinda relay or something.
