98 accord: trouble starting in the morning
Hi,
I recently had a problem with one of my hoses (heat valve?) that had a small hole in it and was spraying coolant. I took it to a repair shop and the guy fixed the hose in about 45 minutes then came and told me there would be no charge for the work.
Well, once i got back in my car i notice that the "check engine" light was on... and the light has remained on since i had the work done a week or so ago.
Since i got the car back, when i go to start it in the morning, it seems like its not getting enough gas or something, and i have to keep starting it and pumping the gas until the rpms get up.. then i have to keep hitting the gas for a few minutes becuase if i let off.. it just konks out.
I was wondering if any of you guys might know what the problem might be.. I really feel like the mechanic screwed something up and thats why he didn't charge me anything for the initial problem.
any ideas?
thanks

Yeah, I'm assuming the mechanic didnt give you any paper work either? Not a good
way of doing business. Your problem could be a cornucopia of things. Head Gasket,
Fuel Pump? Who knows. How much coolant did you loose when this hose burst? Is
your car running hot? You need some more details here.

year and model please?
have that hose REPLACED, they're not that expensive, you just drain the coolant system, replace the hose and fill it back up again, if the coolant is less than a year or so old you can put the same stuff back in if it dosn't look brownish.
I would also check your fluid level, check it at the over-run bottle first, and also wait for the car to cool down and check your radiator, if you lost enough fluid it can have adverse affects on your engine.
If your car is 98 or newer take it to autozone and have them pull the CEL.

First thing you could do is look to see if any vacum hoses got taken/pulled loose.
Next is to be sure the coolant is full and the block burped.
Most parts stores will read the CEL code for free in hopes of selling you something you may or may not need.
Repost with the code, and get more info.
