1st gen b16a in 92-95/ type r distributor
I got two questions:
1.Can you guys tell me what I may need to put a 1st (88-91) b16a into my 92-95 EG civic CX? I bought one accidentally. I know about the transmission mount, but what about the wiring, shift linkage, and axles? Will those need to be changed also? Is there a company that makes a wiring harness that'll easily hook up the gauges?
2.I've heard the Type R distributor will allow your engine to rev to higher RPM's than other distributors, would this be a better swap to have or would just an external coil give the same results. I know only tuning will make you rev higher but I need a better (cheap) ignition to handle those higher
rev's. Thanks

Try this in the hybrid fourm - better response. I can't totally help. I can tell you that you got yourself one bad *** engine! Check out lyonel's setup...

type r distributor will work on the motor but wont plug in your harness. you will need to change dist. to obd1 specs. you need hydro tranny and clutch coz the first gen b16 has cable tranny. need to wire in the inj. and some misc vacuums
I know that it's a cable tranny, but they make mounts where you can put a cable tranny into an EG model. I want to save that extra money and just keep this engine/tranny combo intact. I just need to know what you need to get this to work.
i dont think an R distributor will work, its OBDII. only if your using an R ecu wich i wouldnt anyway.
your best bet is to sell that motor
your gonna need about a 1000$ worth of stuff to get it in there.
http://www.hasport.com has the kit. its NOT a mount to make the cable transmission work, its a kit that converts hydro to cable. your gonna need new mounts, injectors, distributor, ecu, wiring harness, and a bottle of asprin.
honestly its more trouble than its worth.
