anyone running the NSX front calipers with the 11" prelude rotors on gs-r wheels

i want to see if i will have any clearence issues , thanks

NSX calipers arriving in 3 days and counting

 

aren't prelude rotors 5 lug? and aren't gsr wheels 4 lug? how is it going to work?

 

I'll be running ITR 5 lug with 92 NSX calipers shortly. I doubt it'll clear my Stern Aguzzes though.

 

how much larger are the NSX calipers? I know for sure the ITR brake upgrade will fit under the Sterns.

Im running the fastbrakes front 11' rotor kit on my eh, with my 96 gsr wheels.
There is no way you can fit an nsx caliper and 11' rotor under a 15' gsr wheel cuz, with my gs calipers i have like 3/4-1/2 a mm between the rims and caliper.

please correct me if i am wrong though, nsx calipers would be sweet.

 

there was a pic floating around a while back with a type-R with NSX brakes. maybe someone still has it here

 

was this under stock 15' R wheels?
I'll post a pic of my brake setup sometime tomorrow.

 

I think i have seen that....NSX caliper under a 15inch ITR rim. But i could wrong.

 

it is my understanding that you have to redrill the lude rotors and only lude rotors work with the nsx calipers.

 

You can get the ITR/Prelude-sized rotors predrilled in 4-lug from fastbrakes.com.

 

I think they will fit. I have the following setup.
11" Prelude Rotors redrilled (fastbrakes.com)
Prelude caliper brackets modified by fastbrakes.com
I used to have prelude calipers and just got a set of 94 Legend Coupe calipers. These are the same as the NSX calipers except they do not say NSX on the side. Two piston, the works. They bolt up just the same (just swap left and right calipers so you can bleed the air out) as the prelude calipers. Same Pad, and fit under my stock 15" 00 Si wheels. They also fit under 15" Rota C8s.

awesome , thanks for ANSWERING the question instead of debating the parts i'm using

and for everyone else that needs further info about my set-up
92-96 prelude rotors are 4 lug 115mm , i need to get them redrilled to 100mm
NSX calipers , are not that large and DO FIT under stock ITR wheels
the 2 piston design gives more grip and will compliment my 11.2" rotors nicely
I was SIMPLY asking if anyone had any issues with the GS-r wheels and NSX calipers , thanks

Acuratyper: when you used the legend calipers do you still use the fastbrakes caliper bracket? or does it instead bolt on to the stock location?

very interesting set up.

Doc: will the nsx caliper simply bolt on? if this is the case i might consider upgrading my calipers also.

Canttx- i believe they all bolt straight up onto Type R's, Accord's and Prelude... Correct me if im wrong

 

Doctor CorteZ- Good luck... If it doesnt fit, hit me up... I want a set of NSX calipers too... But i think u might just get different wheels... We all kno that Type R wheels and GSR wheels are 15x6 so does the offset matter??? I forgot the size of the rotor on a Type R... My friend had NSX caliper on his ITR before and stock clearence i believe...

 

they fit , i KNOW for a fact

you have to use 93-95 civic EX with ABS spindles or 94-up teg spindles with the prelude 11.2" rotors redilled to 4 x 100mm

and maybe a spacer or machine a bracket or something , should be a bolt-on affair

 

here, 11" rotor with big *** wilwood superlite 2 caliper, and it clears "some" 15" wheel.

i am using the prelude rotors predrilled to the 4 bolt pattern with itr calipers under the 96 gsr wheels. this set up works great. didn't even have to swap my rear drums to discs. i am running the b18c1 engine under my hood.
no problems in clearing the wheel with this set up.

Well being that the Sterns fit on my ITR fine, I'm sure I'll be ok with them on mu hatchcrap also.

 

call best brakes in the back of sports compact car and tell them you want the 95 si vtec (4x114) rotors and tell them to redrill them to 4x100. the nsx calipers will bolt on just fine and it will fit under the itr 15 wheels. i had this setup on my hatch and ran 15 97 gsr wheels and they fit fine but you need to use a wheel spacer. the difference is that the nsx calipers are a 2 pistons caliper and plus you get the nsx logo. f.y.i the 94 gs legend coupe type 2 also runs the nsx caliper with no logo on it. its a good setup but it getsery costly. i would just recommend using a wilwood brake ugrade kit. oh, almost forgot.... make sure you watch for the brake pad wear cause it wil wear out prematurely cause of the brake rotor thickness differs between the prelude and nsx rotors. nsx= 28mm ; prelude/ite=22? or 23? anyhow hope that helps.

 

here is a pic of my fastbrake kit, there is virtually no room left between the caliper and rims, this is why i was wondering if it would be possible to fit the nsx calipers under a gsr rim.

I successfully put NSX caliper in EG with custom hat to fit 4 lugs. THis way I can have the advantage of 2 piece rotors. Too bad the car got stolen this morning.
