Default Mini me timming!!

so..i had a garage "bolt" on a d16z head...to my d15 block..however theres a problem with the timming, new dizzy cap and rotor. new wires..plugs..
the car bogs alot up hill and almost dies at iddle offen..?
what i think is that they didnt bring the piston to TDC. nor did they align the cam gear and crank pulley..can you ajust the timming well enogh just with the distributor?

Putting the engine to tdc is a start. But since you are putting a d16 head onto a d15 block timing will still be off too. I believe it's like 4.5 degree off. People say use the y7/y8 cam gear and it should solve the timing issue on the d15 mini me.

do you have a d16z6 timing belt? thats the one you need. your ignition timing could be off too.

Your best bet is to get an adjustable cam gear, but a y7/y8 stock cam will do the trick also.

i had a mini me without a cam gear and it ran fine. made 208whp with 7psi. btw, did the shop follow the walkthrough? if they didn't, you will probaby have to pull the head again to have working vtec. you dont need a cam gear!

I just want to advance the timming..what are my options as far as just that? i think that will help..maybe a lash adjustment(valves)
pulling the head is not an option...unless they feel like doing it for free, which they wont wana do.lol.

Go with an AEM cam gear..

I had my d15/Y8 at about 5 degrees advanced, but then again that was a y8 head...theres no exact point, just tinker with the cam gear and make sure dizzy timing is right on
