Default GSR build question!

i have a 98 gsr with 160k and im planning on rebuilding it and boosting it. I wanna rebuild it and get eagle rods and cp pistons, all new bearings and gaskets, all new valve springs and retainers (not sure witch brand yet), then do a valve job. While i have the motor apart i was planning on honing the block myself if it was needed, because i have read posts before where people said it wasent that hard to hone a block yourself if you have the right tools. I was wondering if 9:1 compression would be good for this, and once i do all of this would it be ok to drive on for a about 6-8 months before i turbo it. And what engine management do you suggest for this and what sort of a tune do i need. Also would the build i have in mind be good for my goals of 260-300whp, and staying lower than 12psi, and BTW this is going to be my daily driver.

Personally I would not hone the cylinders myself. Since your spending all this money on building your money why not take it to a local mahine shop to get it done properly. It is true that it is easier with the right tools, for example I believe the "stones" are a crappy way to hone your block. But I would not risk it, you want your piston rings to seal properly and need a good crosshatch (i think its called that). So why risk it.

9.1 Compression is fine, and you should not have any problems running the motor with that compression without boost. Just remember the car will be slow.

Engine Management I would go with Hondata, Crome, Crome Pro. Preferably anything standaloone. Just get whatever your tuner is most comfortable with.

I don't think your going to run into any problems reaching 260-300 WHP while staying under 12psi. It just all depends on turbo size.

I know I promised some help on this build, and I will deliver... I am still doing some research.

I just did everything you described this past summer, my whole engine was rebuilt with new gaskets, bearings, rods, pistons, springs, etc. I got it street tuned on crome as soon as it was ready because I had different parts and a new intake manifold so I wanted it to be done right. I'm still saving up for a boost setup. Oh and you'll be fine with forged internals for your goal.

my buddy just rebuilt his for boost. Take it to a reputable machine shop. This stuff is too finiky to be doing it your self. You need to be able to measure accuratly to the thoundths. Do it right the first time, have the machine work done but assemle it yourself to save money
