Default Conversions.......going too far

What the heck is going on with this whole conversion trend?? Everyone is whining about "Rice" this and "JDM" that.....I think the REAL hidden plague is all of these whacky people putting Plymoth Duster headlights on Pintos and sh*&!!!

I'm sorry but I came across the following picture and it just put me over the edge.

I just don't understand why people do these things. I consider myself a true automotive enthusiast and I truly appreciate a cars natural beauty sort of speak. I mean I own a Civic and personally I like the way it looks as it is. I mean I've added a CTR front lip spoiler to add a little "sportiness" to it but come on......why buy something if you're just gonna chop the hell out of it.

Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate and respect the amount of craftsmenship that is involved in CLEAN conversions, but 99.9% of the time the work just kills the cars looks.

Thanks for letting me vent!!

no I think going to far would be putting late model Lincoln Town Car headlights (HUGE lights) on the front of a G2 Eclipse. I think I saw it on ImportFan a long time ago.

dont hate... they just want to be original. its alot better than slappin on some custom headlight covers and altezza tailights. some people pick bad conversions.. but sometimes, its just the way its done that looks ugly.

Ever seen that dark red EG with the JDM Integra lights on it? That is one example of a nice conversion, the rest are getting way out of hand...

EDIT: Found a pic, hope it works...

I don't really understand the whole conversion thing. Why do you buy a Honda only to try and make it look like a Toyota or Nissan or vice versa? Makes absolutely no sense and as someone else wrote before, 9 outta 10 times, it completely ruins the lines of car. Just my opinion.

Ive seen mk4 supra headlights on 96-98 civics, it looked nice, because theyre the same shape as the civic lights.

i would never do a headlight conversion myself though, its dumb.

hmm, the worst i seen was in super street (readers rides) when the guy said he plans to add an r34 skyline front conversion to his 89 vette (and maxima tail lights). Its about 3 or 4 issues back from the current one.

Malf- admits to reading superstreet.
